Method and device for the production of peat coal.

The subject of the invention is a method for the production of peat charcoal by means of such peat charring devices, which consist of two cooperating, perforated and elongated chambers provided pressing plates, between the mutually facing sides of the peat is passed under pressure and charring, while the pressing plates are heated by hot combustion gases that flow through the elongated chambers. The essence of the process is that these hot gases, which are enriched with the gases produced by the peat passed between the press plates and entering the chambers through the perforations of these plates, are used to pre-dry the peat before it is introduced between the press plates.

The gases enriched with still unburned gases are expediently subjected to combustion before they are used to pre-dry the peat.

In the drawing, FIG. 1 shows a system designed according to the invention, while FIG. 2 shows a longitudinal section through a particular embodiment of the peat charring press.

1 is a gas generator charged with raw peat and 2 is a combustion chamber, 3 and 5 represent the chambered pressing plates, the internal arrangement of which is the same as that of the pressing plates of Fig. 2; 4 is a line for the hot gases from chamber 2 to the chambers of the press plates and 7, 12 is a line through which the gases from these chambers are guided to the pre-drying device 9, 14. In the line 7 a combustion chamber 8 is switched on, in which the unburned parts of the gas flowing in from the chambers of the press plates 3, 5 are burned before entering the pre-drying device.

In the embodiment according to FIG. 1, the combustion gas emerging from the chamber 2 is introduced into the chambers of the plates 3, 5 at their upper end and discharged at the lower end.

'' The gas inlets are appropriately equipped with control slides. A further control of the heating of the press plates enables a cross line 10 connecting the line 4 to the line 7 and controllable by means of a valve, through which a part of the combustion gases can be transferred directly into the line 7, in which case less heating of the press plates takes place. The movement of the gas through the lines can be assisted by pumps or fans 11.

The peat is filled in through the funnel-shaped pre-drying device 9, 14 and is pre-dried between the press plates 3, 5, between which it is separated by suitable means, e.g. B. reciprocating piston, is moved to the lower ends. By appropriate selection of the pressure, the temperature and the length of the press plates, the peat is gradually and completely charred during this movement.

One press plate 3 can be rotated about a shaft 15 in order to exert the pressure. The pivoting of this plate against the other plate 5, which is fixed, can be effected in any way.

The embodiment of the peat charring press illustrated in FIG. 2 contains two pairs of plates 3, 5 arranged in a frame. The plate 5 of each pair is fixedly attached in the frame, while the plates 3 from the crank pin 21 and 22 of the shafts 19 and 20, respectively can be caused to vibrate by push rods 17, 18 around shafts or pins 15. Gears 23, 24 are arranged on the shafts 19, 20 and cooperate with a gear 25 attached to the main drive shaft 2.

Ends of gas supply lines 29, which are fed through the lines 30 with hot combustion gases or flue gases. The escaping gases are conducted through the tubes 32 and a common collecting tube to the combustion chamber 8 (see FIG. 1), so that in this case too the unburned parts of the chambers of the pressure plate. 3, 5 of the incoming gas are burned before entering the pre-drying facility.

This means that the gases are retained in the chambers for a long enough time and, at the same time, good heat dissipation is ensured.

It can be seen from the drawing that the press plates are attached at an angle. Namely, it has been found that the weight of the peat mass for passing the peat between the press plates is not

mentioned, for example, may consist of reciprocating pistons 36, concerned. The pistons 36 are driven from the one crank pin 19 by means of joints 37, 3S. This arrangement can of course be modified in several ways. The peat is placed in the container 14 and introduced through the pistons 36 between the pressing plate,) "5.
