Heated press cylinder for injection molding.

The production of objects by injection molding from materials which, such as those under the names Cellon, Trolit, Lonarit and the like. Like. Known synthetic materials based on acetyl cellulose, are poor heat conductors and require constant supply of heat during molding for their preparation and processing for injection molding, in order to bring them into an injectable state or to maintain them in this state, comes out of the aforementioned The property of such masses presents a particular difficulty when it is a question of producing objects that are even of some weight.

Since a constant supply of heat is necessary to achieve sprayability, but this is not passed on or only slightly passed on by the materials mentioned, the cross-sections of the usual externally heated press cylinders with injection nozzles could only be small, as this resulted when the press cylinder cross-section was larger That the material was already burning on the inner walls of the cylinder, whereas in the central part the mass was still crumbly or too little plastic or liquid.

Since one is limited in the choice of the height of the press cylinder for technological and economic reasons, the capacity of the known press nozzles could hardly be increased to such an extent that objects could be produced with a unit weight of about 100 g. When making heavier pieces, you sometimes have to make arrangements
 EMI1.1
Open into the casting mold and into which, if necessary, jointly actuated plungers were pressed, helped.

But this process is only a makeshift, which u. a. because of the almost unattainable uniform heating and creation of a thoroughly uniform aggregate state of the material in the majority of press cylinders and because of the difficulty of uniform pressure in such cylinders, results were mostly only seriously objectionable.

The subject of the invention is a pressing and spraying device which is intended and usable for materials that conduct heat well, but especially for materials that are poorly conductive, and which allows the perfect production of objects by injection molding, the unit weight of which is a high multiple of that which can be produced up to now Can be objects and is almost unlimited within practical limits.

The basic idea of the invention lies in the creation of such a shape and shape of the pressurized container of the injection molding material that everywhere in the direction in which mainly the amount of heat supplied from outside penetrates through conduction within the material to be processed and is supposed to penetrate the nature of the latter, depending on the nature of the latter, but in any case a relatively small cross-section on the material, whereas in the direction approximately perpendicular to this, the dimensions of this container (press cylinder) are arbitrarily large.

Although the dimension of the press cylinder in the direction of the pressure is limited for the reasons given at the beginning and one dimension of its cross section perpendicular to the direction of press pressure must be kept small because of the low thermal conductivity of the spray material, since the other cross-sectional dimension is unlimited, it can have a large capacity of the press cylinder can be achieved with the largest possible heating surfaces.

As press cylinders that meet the above conditions, those are mainly those whose cross-section perpendicular to the printing direction essentially has the shape of rings or parts

takes place along the entire inner and outer contour boundaries, so the heating surfaces are as large as possible in relation to the volume of the press cylinder.

Some embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are illustrated as examples in the drawing.

1 and 2 show in a vertical or horizontal section an embodiment in which the press cylinder 1 has a circular cross-section and is surrounded by an inner and an outer heating jacket 2 and 3, respectively. The sole of the press cylinder is closed and has, distributed in a circle, outlet channels 4, which by shut-off devices, z. B. taps 5, are controllable. The chicks of these taps are for example provided with arms 6 and can use them individually for the purpose of release or
To close the outlet channel. However, these arms 6 can also be used in groups or as a whole with a common actuator, e.g.

   B. a ring segment or a ring 7, be connected in such a way that by adjusting this segment or the ring 7, the associated part or the entirety of the taps is opened or closed. The atwa in a bead arranged on the sole of the press cylinder recess outlet channels for the brought into the injectable state and injected under pressure by a piston 9 corresponding to the press cylinder shape
Material flow into the mold.

Fig. 3 shows a similar embodiment of the press cylinder according to the invention, the circular ring-shaped part 1, however, merges into an essentially conical extension 10, which has the outlet opening 4 at the lowest point. Which by means of a shut-off valve that can be actuated from the outside by means of a rod 11? can be released or closed.

The cross-section of the press cylinder can also have an angular outline, for example according to FIG. 4, or only correspond to part of an essentially annular structure; A rectangular cross section according to FIG. 5 can also be viewed as part of a ring with an infinitely large radius. In all cross-sectional shapes, however, one dimension of the cross-section is always small, while the other is a multiple of the same, and the outer surfaces of the press cylinder required for heating are large in relation to its capacity. These heating surfaces can be enlarged, for example, by making the cylinder walls wave-like.

The ring-shaped configuration of the press cylinder has the further advantage that it can easily fill its interior space evenly and the material is evenly distributed there itself. can be achieved, that the material in a crumbly state is centrally located on one, if necessary; heated conical superstructure, M Fig. l) is applied, which covers the interior enclosed by the press cylinder. The material rolls evenly along the surface of the cone 13 into the annular space of the press cylinder.
