between the two contact blades 7, 8, which in the illustrated embodiment are also covered by a protective hood 18 at the top. Instead of the mercury toggle switch shown, a different type of isolating switch can naturally also be used. To facilitate the introduction of the iron, the iron rest is widened in a known manner in the shape of a funnel at the front end and covered with heat-insulating material on its inner wall surfaces.
The operation of the device is as follows: With the in the position shown on the
Iron shelf 4 attached iron, on whose contact surfaces 1, 2 when inserting the two
Lamellae 7, 8 rest, the buffer 9 is displaced into the housing of the switch s overcoming the tension force of the spring 12, the adjusting screw 15 lifting the double lever 16 and the latter
Toggle switch 10 tilts so that the supply line L is closed and the current is conducted to the heating wire of the iron b. The movement of the buffer 9 is limited by the elastic stop 18. After the resistance heating of the iron b has ended, it is removed from the tray 4, as a result of which the spring 12 pushes the buffer 9 out again and the lamellae 7, 8 are de-energized.
The switching device s has the advantage that damage to the lamellae 7, 8 is prevented and the premature interruption in the switch 10 prevents an arc between the contacts 7, 1 or 8, 2. The structural design is any.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Settling plate for electric irons with contacts which interact with the iron contacts when the iron is removed, characterized in that a switching device attached to the plate is actuated by the detached iron, which causes the contacts on the settling plate to be under There is tension when the iron is removed.
