   Die in derartige Apparate eingelegten Heizröhren wurden bisher meist durch Ringe aus Kautschuk oder Hanf gedichtet, welch letztere sich nicht bewährten, daher bald wieder ausser Gebrauch kamen. Die Kautschukringe zeigen, abgesehen von ihrem verhältnismässig   hohen   Preise, den Übelstand, dass sie durch die hohe Temperatur und den Dampf im   Heizkörper   sich stark zusammenziehen und oft ein nochmaliges Öffnen des abgedichteten Vcrdampfapparates und ein Nachziehen der Schrauben notwendig machen.
