So z.
Verwendet man z.

to conduct the latter via the liquid carbon compounds, so that they are enriched accordingly.
As far as the amounts of carbon compounds required to fill the lamp are concerned, the same depends on the weight of the filament, depending on whether it should consist entirely of tantalum carbide or have a core made of tantalum, and depending on whether the filament is a finished carbide is built into the lamp or the conversion to carbide only takes place in the lamp. In general, it must be said that the lamp should expediently contain so much carbon compounds that it is possible to keep the thread as a carbide thread for the desired burning time without the supply of carbon compounds being exhausted earlier. So z. For example, a 0.1 mm diameter tantalum wire weighing 26 mg for a 50 V lamp will require 17 mg of carbon to be completely converted to tantalum carbide.
Since while the lamp is burning, especially when a noble gas is present at the same time, only part of the carbon will escape from the carbide, it is sufficient to maintain the carbide if the equivalent amount of a hydrocarbon is added to the lamp. When using, for example, benzene, 1-9 mg, i.e. i. about 0'002 cm3 of benzene is sufficient.
If the carbide formation is to take place in the lamp, then approximately double the amount, i.e. 4 mg of benzene, is introduced into the lamp. If you use z. B. Diphenyl, which is deposited on the lamp balloon, then only the small amount corresponding to the respective evaporation tension at the temperature of the gases circulating in the lamp-will be absorbed by the gas atmosphere and-new amounts-only enter the gas atmosphere according to the consumption . However, right from the start there will be a state of equilibrium between the glowing tantalum carbide
