- Ahäe for electron tubes.
The common anodes for electron tubes are mostly round or oval. In addition, anodes of rectangular or similar cross-section have also been proposed. All of these anodes have the disadvantage that they do not dissipate the heat quickly enough and therefore disadvantageous heating cannot be avoided during prolonged use.
According to the invention, this disadvantage is eliminated in that the cross section of the anode has the shape of a star with protruding, appropriately pointed rays or a similar shape.
In the drawing, two exemplary embodiments of the anode are illustrated schematically and on a larger scale. 1 and 2 show an embodiment in cross section and in elevation and FIGS. 3 and 4 show a second embodiment in the same representations.
In both cases the anode a has the shape of a star with protruding rays b. In one embodiment there are three and in the other six rays: which in both cases are pointed, but could also have other shapes. Instead of designing the cross-section of the anode as a regular star, another regular or irregular shape could be selected in which parts similar to the star rays (tips, teeth or the like) are present. The grid c is adapted to the shape of the anode and the filament d is arranged centrally or eccentrically in the anode.
Such an anode shape enables very good heat dissipation due to the tip effect and prevents excessive heating of the anode. The capacitance of such an anode is also smaller than that of conventional anodes, which improves the effect of the tube during reception.
