  Verfahren zur Herstellung von Elektroden für trockene Kupferoxydgleichrichter. 



   Bei der Herstellung der Elektroden für trockene Kupferoxydgleichrichter pflegt man die im wesentlichen aus rotem Kupferoxyd (Kupferoxydul) bestehende wirksame Schicht mit fein verteilter Kohle zu behandeln. Man will dadurch einerseits den Kontakt mit der darauf zu legenden Gegenelektrode verbessern und anderseits die Reduktion des Kupferoxyduls erschweren. 



   Es hat sich gezeigt, dass derartig behandelte Elektroden in vielen Fällen einen unerwünscht grossen Rückstrom (d. h. Stromstärke in der dem gleichgerichteten Strom entgegengesetzten Richtung) aufweisen. Darunter leidet aber der Wirkungsgrad der Gleichrichter. Der erwähnte Übelstand lässt sich nun dadurch beseitigen, dass man bei der Behandlung der Elektrode mit Kohle (Graphitierung) den Elektrodenrand von der Berührung mit der fein verteilten Kohle ausschliesst. Auf diese Weise wird dem Rückstrom der Kriechweg über den Elektrodenrand versperrt und so die Stärke des Rückstromes ganz erheblich vermindert. Je vollständiger dies gelingt, um so brauchbarer ist die Elektrode zur Verwendung als Gleichrichter und um-so höher der Wirkungsgrad der Gleichrichtung.

   In the manufacture of electrodes for dry copper oxide rectifiers, the effective layer, consisting essentially of red copper oxide (copper oxide), is usually treated with finely divided carbon. The aim is on the one hand to improve the contact with the counter electrode to be placed on it and on the other hand to make the reduction of the copper oxide more difficult.



   It has been found that electrodes treated in this way in many cases have an undesirably large reverse current (i.e. current intensity in the direction opposite to the rectified current). The efficiency of the rectifier suffers as a result. The disadvantage mentioned can now be eliminated by excluding the electrode edge from contact with the finely divided carbon when the electrode is treated with carbon (graphitization). In this way the leakage path of the return current is blocked over the edge of the electrode and the strength of the return current is reduced considerably. The more fully this is achieved, the more useful the electrode is for use as a rectifier and the higher the efficiency of the rectification.
