Process for the preparation of an aqueous emulsion of paraffins.
The invention relates to a process for the production of paraffin emulsions which are distinguished by their particular durability. The method is based on the knowledge that it is possible by using a combination of two emulsifying agents, u. between vegetable gum and algae, to emulsify paraffins in water in such a way that segregation does not occur even after a very long storage time. The emulsion also has great stability against the effects of temperatures of up to about 40. The strength of the emulsion corresponds roughly to that of a consistent fat.
The emulsion produced by the new process has an important field of application for pharmaceutical purposes. With its help, it is possible to produce a preparation that is taken internally and has laxative properties according to its paraffin content. While paraffin as such is unsuitable for ingestion because of its bad taste and the associated side effects, such as nausea and indigestion, the new preparation, which contains paraffin in an emulsified state, is a means that completely suffers from the disadvantage of pure paraffin free is. It is advisable to add flavorings to the water in which the paraffin is emulsified.
In this way, any taste can be achieved, so that it is possible to use the preparation in jam form.
