Galvanisches Element.

Galvanic element.
In galvanic elements it is known to surround the carbon electrode with a mixture of manganese dioxide or the like and acetylene black, because the acetylene black has the property of significantly increasing the life of the element. The acetylene black, to which graphite is added according to the main patent no. 97139, however, in the chemically pure state, has the disadvantageous property for the production of the elements that it is specifically light and also takes up the electrolyte too eagerly.
As a result, if the electrode is pressed and wrapped in canvas, it expands and loses its strength if it is not processed very carefully. Or, if very thin canvas or paper is used, this cover tears, the depolarization mass escapes and causes a short circuit.
According to the invention, the disadvantages are eliminated in that acetylene black is used, which is not obtained from pure acetylene gas, but from acetylene gas, which is mixed with other hydrocarbon gas prior to the decomposition, z. B. from benzene, gasoline, gas oil or the like. Is obtained. The acetylene gas can be adapted to the production method of the galvanic element by a specific measurement of the amount of foreign gas additive and by the selection of a specific hydrocarbon gas so that the quality of the element is further improved, in particular due to better electrolyte absorption. Above all, however, a safer production method for acetylene black is possible because the addition of foreign hydrocarbons causes the gas to burn more slowly during the decomposition explosion.
