  Blowpipe for locomotives.

The subject of the present invention is a blowpipe for locomotives with which the combustion can be regulated and made uniform to the greatest possible extent.

The known blowpipe constructions have devices with which only the tensile strength can be regulated, while the tensile distribution on the Rauehrohrbündel can not be influenced. The disadvantage can then arise that individual grate parts are stressed more than the others and that the fuel layer may even tear through at individual points on the grate. The cold air flowing in through these holes significantly reduces the efficiency of the furnace and places excessive stress on the boiler and pipe walls.

To avoid these disadvantages, in a blowpipe for locomotives with two nozzles arranged one above the other, the upper nozzle, which can be displaced in a guide, is arranged in such a way that in its central position its upper and lower opening are at the same distance above and below the center of the smoke tube bundle. This results in an even distribution of the draft on the smoke tubes and on the grate surface. A plate surrounding the upper nozzle serves the same purpose and is intended to prevent the formation of turbulence in the rough gases. The overall arrangement of the blow pipe device is such that the upper edge of the upper nozzle is at such a distance from the lower end of the chimney in every position that the steam jet emerging from the upper nozzle can develop freely.

In the drawing, an embodiment of the subject invention is shown, u. Between Fig. 1 shows the blowpipe installed in the locomotive in longitudinal section and Fig. 2 shows a cross section.

The blowpipe consists of a permanently installed nozzle A which is connected to the steam outlet pipe and which carries a guide bush C by means of arms B, B B2. In this sleeve C, a cylindrical nozzle D, expediently somewhat widened at the inlet end, is slidably mounted above and coaxially with the nozzle A in such a way that an annular gap is formed between the nozzle mouths lying opposite one another. In order to be able to change the tension distribution, a shaft G which can be actuated from the driver's cab is mounted in the guide bush C, which extends through the slots of the upper nozzle D into the interior and carries a pinion K there. This pinion meshes with a toothed rack H arranged on the inner wall of the nozzle.

A plate-shaped stretching plate E dividing the roughing chamber into two spaces is attached to the guide bush C and a wire mesh F extending to the roughing chamber walls is connected to its edge.

Depending on the necessary distribution of tension on the upper and lower nozzle, the guide can cause the upper nozzle D to move upwards or downwards and thus to enlarge or reduce the cross-section of the passage through the annular gap. The steam emerging from the nozzle A sucks in the fire gases emerging from the smoke pipes arranged below the mouldboard E, mixes with them and pulls them through the nozzle D with and through the chimney into the open. Most of the fuel particles carried along by the flue gases are intercepted by the wire mesh F and the spreading sheet E.

The fire gases emerging from the flue pipes above the plate E and carrying only small amounts of fuel particles are transported directly into the open by the suction effect of the conical mixture jet emerging from the nozzle D.

can be significantly reduced. The water consumption also falls as a result of the more even development of steam and the avoidance of unintentional pressure fluctuations in the boiler.
