Drive wheel for the sample tape of circular knitting machines.
The invention relates to a drive wheel for the pattern band of circular knitting machines, in which the pattern band acts directly on the feet of the needle jacks or needles mounted in the needle cylinder so as to be radially movable. According to the invention, the drive wheel is equipped with depressions corresponding to the needle pitch and with webs standing between these depressions. The webs offer the non-perforated areas of the sample tape a hold against bending.
In the drawing, the drive wheel is illustrated for example. Fig. 1 shows the drive wheel with the pattern tape and part of the circular knitting machine from the side, the machine part being shown in section. Fig. 2 shows a plan view of the drive wheel in partial section.
The gear wheel C sets the drive wheel 5 in rotation, which drives the pattern band with it through the pins 8 engaging in the holes 9 of the pattern band 1. The drive wheel 5 is provided with depressions corresponding to the needle pitch and with webs 10 standing between these. The needle jacks equipped with feet 13 are mounted in the grooves 11 of the needle cylinder so as to be radially displaceable. Before they come into the area of the pattern tape 1 as a result of the rotation of the needle cylinder, they are moved radially outward by suitable means. If the needle pusher then reach the sample tape 1, some pusher holes in the sample tape are found and therefore remain in the outer position, whereas other pusher posts are pushed inward through unperforated areas 12 of the sample tape.
By turning the needle cylinder further, the pusher comes into the area of the lock. This pushes the outside pusher up, whereas the pusher pushed inward remains lowered. The webs 10 provide the non-perforated points 12 of the pattern tape 1 when these points act on the butt feet 13 the necessary support. The pushers are therefore pushed back with certainty.
