Die Erfindung bezweckt, Bewehrungsdrähte ohne Mehrarbeit bei der eigentlichen Rohrherstellung zuverlässig vor schädlichen Einflüssen zu bewahren und besteht darin, dass der Draht in der insbesondere bei elektrischen Leitungsdrähten üblichen Art mit einer schlauchartigen Schutzhülle umgeben ist, die durch Umpressen, Umspinnen, Umwickeln od. dgl. mit isolierenden oder Flüssigkeit abweisenden Stoffen, gegebenenfalls unter Verwendung von ImprägnierungsmitteJn, hergestellt ist.
Im Gegensatze zu den bekannten Verfahren wird also der Draht durch eine feste Hülle geschützt, die entweder unabhängig von der Rohrherstellung oder im Zuge derselben, jedoch immer vor der Aufbringung des Drahtes auf das Rohr erzeugt wird. Die Hülle kann aus einem um den Draht gepressten dünnen Bleimantel oder einer durch Umspinnen oder Umflechten hergestellten Gespinstfaserisolation bestehen. Ebenso kann der Draht mit Bändern aus Kautschuk, Guttapercha od. dgl. überlappend umwickelt werden. Die so geschaffene feste Hülle kann erforderlichenfalls noch mit Imprägnierungsmitteln getränkt oder überzogen werden, wenn hiefür nicht der übliche Teeranstrieh des fertigen Rohres als ausreichend erachtet wird.
Die Wahl der Stoffe für die Hülle sowie des geeignetsten der an sich bekannten Herstellungsverfahren richtet sich naturgemäss nach dem Verwendungszweck und Art des Rohres, nach den zu erwartenden Witterungseinflüssen usw.
