Unter den möglichen Kopplungen von hintereinander arbeitenden Verstärkern hat die als Wider- standskapazitätskopplung bekannte Schaltung den Ruf, Mehrfachverstärker zu liefern, die ein sehr breites Band von Frequenzen verzerrungsfrei verstärken. Man kann dies aber auch mit Übertragerkopplungen und der sogenannten Längsentzerrung erreichen, falls die Übertrager hinreichend kleine Streuung haben.
Die Übertragerkopplungen eignen sich gleichfalls gut für Verstärker, die in einem breiten Frequenzbereich eine Verstärkungskurve mit bestimmter Abhängigkeit von der Frequenz haben.
Es haften jedoch beiden Kopplungen gewisse Mängel an. Die Widerstandskapazitätskopplung ergibt keine Spannungsübersetzung von einer Röhre zur andern, so dass infolge der geringeren Verstärkung je Rohr mehr Stufen notwendig sind. Ferner muss der Kopplungskondensator sehr geringe Ableitung haben, wenn sich nicht eine falsche Gittervorspannung einstellen soll. Derartige Kondensatoren sind teuer.

However, this can also be achieved with transformer couplings and so-called longitudinal equalization, if the transformers have sufficiently small scatter.
The transmitter couplings are also well suited for amplifiers that have a gain curve with a certain frequency dependence in a wide frequency range.
However, both couplings have certain defects. The resistance capacitance coupling does not result in any voltage translation from one tube to another, so that more stages are necessary for each tube due to the lower gain. Furthermore, the coupling capacitor must have very little dissipation if an incorrect grid bias is not to occur. Such capacitors are expensive.
