Description

    Drummer or diversion water chamber.

The invention relates to the known manifold or deflection water chambers, as they are used in connection with turbine suction pipes, channels of centrifugal pumps, pipelines, etc., in which the water particles flowing in near the outer wall of the bend are guided and diverted so that they are diverted the simply deflected flow of the water entering near the inner wall of the bend and in the middle part of the inlet opening into the water above it
Water flow on the inner wall behind the bend, fill it and thus produce a uniform velocity distribution in the cross section behind the bend, and consists in the fact that the bend outer wall is drawn in like a burr at the point of the strongest bend,

so that a septum opposite the inlet opening arises, which is located after the
The outlet flattens out and forms two pocket-like chambers with the side walls, so that a Pelton shovel-like shape is created.

1-3 show an example of an intake manifold for a water turbine designed according to these principles, and the like. Between FIG. 1 shows the front view and FIG. 2 shows the floor plan, while FIG. 3 shows the shape of the bend by means of sectional lines.

At the point of greatest curvature, the outer wall is drawn in like a burr in the middle, so that a partition g is formed which is opposite the inlet opening and which becomes flatter and lower as it emerges. In addition to this partition, there are two pocket-like secondary chambers in the lower rear part of the deflection chamber located on the outer wall. The water flowing in near the outer wall is divided by the partition and channeled into the two side pockets.

These are shaped in such a way that the water particles flowing into them are deflected with approximately the same radius of curvature as the water particles entering near the inner wall and are guided upwards in helical paths around the first-mentioned water flow, so that they get into the dead space .

The shape of the rear and lower part of the deflection chamber with the two lateral spaces corresponds approximately to a Pelton shovel, although the cutting edge is designed differently than there.

The invention not only ensures a uniform speed distribution behind the
Reached elbow, but it is also possible to keep the height h in relation to the inlet diameter (Fig. 1) very low without loss of efficiency, which is of great value in terms of construction costs, especially with larger suction elbows of water turbines.
