Process for the preparation of substantively coloring copper-containing o-carboxyazo dyes.
It has been found that copper-containing, substantive coloring o-carboxyazo dyes are obtained which, remarkably, are very effective on vegetable fibers when copper-releasing agents, such as e.g. B. copper sulfate, copper acetate, finely divided copper, etc. can act on azo dyes, which are obtainable by coupling tetrazotized 44'-diaminodiphenyl-33'-diacids to two identical or two different molecules of amino-oxynaphthalene-disulfonic acids or their core substitution products.
A change in the process consists in the fact that the azo dyes on which the process is based as starting materials in the presence of copper-releasing agents such as B. copper hydroxide manufactures. Furthermore, copper compounds of the o-carboxyazo dyes mentioned can be obtained by ordering a dye bath with the o-carboxyazo dyes with the addition of copper-releasing agents.
With the copper compounds that can be produced by the process mentioned, mostly blue and gray tones are obtained; the dyeings have excellent fastness properties, such as lightfastness and ironing fastness, in addition to some excellent clarity of the shade. Some of the new copper compounds are also suitable for uniform coloring of viscose of various origins.
Example 1: 932 G. T. of the azo dye from 1 mol of 44′-diamino-diphenyl-33′-dicarboxylic acid and 2 mol 1. 8-aminonaphthol-2. 4-disulfonic acid are dissolved in 20,000 G. T. water. After acidification with acetic acid, a solution of 250 G. T. crystallized copper sulfate is added and the mixture is heated to 800 C for two hours while stirring. The precipitated dye is filtered off and converted into its sodium salt with soda. It is a dark, metallically shiny powder that is readily soluble in water. From the Glauber's salt soda bath, it dyes the fibers in outstandingly clear, greenish blue tones of excellent light and ironing fastness.
Example 2: To a solution of 638 G. T. 1.8-aminonaphthol-3. 6-disulfonic acid in 10,000 G. T.
Water and 400 G. T. soda and a little pyridine, a solution of 400 G. T. copper sulfate in five times the amount of water is added with stirring. A solution of the tetrazo compound from 272 G. T. 44′-diaminodiphenyl-33′-dicarboxylic acid is allowed to run into the suspension obtained, with stirring and cooling. When the coupling is complete, it is diluted with water and the unchanged copper hydroxide is filtered off, which is extracted several times with hot water. The copper-containing dye is deposited from the aqueous solution by adding sodium chloride. It draws on the vegetable fiber in greenish blue tones. The coloring is extremely lightfast and non-iron.
Example 3: There is a dyebath with 2% of the azo dye from 1 mol of terazotized 44'-diaminodiphenyl-33'-dicarboxylic acid and 2 mol 1. 8-aminonaphthol-4. 6-disulfonic acid, 0.2% copper sulfate, 20% sodium sulfate and 2% soda were ordered. The cotton is put into the dyebath at 40-50 ° C. slowly brings to a boil and keeps at this temperature for half an hour to an hour. After rinsing and drying, a clear blue dyeing is obtained with fastness properties similar to those of the dyes described in the above examples.
Example 4: Applying the copper plating process of Example 1 to the dye which is obtainable by combining 1 mole of the tetrazo compound of 44'-diaminodiphenyl-33'-dicarboxylic acid and 2MoI2. 8-aminonaphthoI-3. 6-disulfonic acid, a copper compound is obtained, which stains the vegetable fiber in gray tones. The dye has excellent fastness properties
