Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf Röhrengleichrichter, die mit einer Glühkathode aus Molybdän mit Zusätzen von Thor, Uran, Titan oder deren Verbindungen zwecks Erhöhung der Emission arbeiten und bei denen das Entladungsrohr mit einem die Kathode chemisch nicht angreifenden Gas oder Dampf. insbesondere Stickstoff, Argon, Quecksilber od. dgl., gefüllt ist.
Bei Verwendung von solchen Glühkathoden aus Molybdän hat sich nun gezeigt, dass, obgleich der Verdampfungsgeschwindigkeit bei der Betriebstemperatur der Molybdän-Thor-Gleichrichterkathode (rund 1500 ) ausserordentlich klein ist, die Lebensdauer dieser Kathoden durch verhältnismässig grosse Rekristallisätionsgesehwindigkeit des thorierten Molybdäns nachteilig beeinflusst wird.
Diese Rekristallisationsgesehwindigkeit des thorierten Molybdäns kann nun entweder durch ein geeignetes Herstellungsverfahren oder, wie erfindungsgemäss, durch Zusätze von Zirkon, Tantal oder Wolfram vorteilhaft verzögert werden.
