Device for recording and reproducing sound films.
The subject matter of the invention is a device for playing back sound films which contain several sound recordings on a film tape, with adjacent recordings running alternately in opposite directions. A device has been described in the parent patent. through which the reversal of the direction of travel of the film is connected at the same time with a lateral shift of the optical recording or scanning device (light source, lens and light-sensitive cell) of the apparatus in such a way that the optics automatically adjusts to the adjacent recording as soon as the direction of travel of the film is reached is reversed. The embodiment described in the parent patent related to films with two adjacent recordings.
The present invention, however, relates to a device which provides the appropriate coupling between lateral displacement

Bear records.
In the figure, C denotes a curved baffle, at the apex of which the sound window, not shown, is to be thought of, through which the sound recording is scanned with the aid of the optical device, also not shown. Underneath the guide plate is the eccentric disc E, which is rotatably mounted about the axis A and against which the two lever arms ssi and H2, held together by a spiral spring F, press. These two levers can be rotated around the axes 0 "and 0, respectively, and carry the pressure rollers Di or
Dz, which press the film either against the transport drums Ti or T2 driven by the motor shaft. Both transport drums move in the same direction, but lie on opposite sides of the film tape, so that the film moves in one direction or the other, depending on whether it is pressed against one or the other transport drum.
In the position shown, the film is pressed against the transport drum Ti so that it looks to the left, assuming that the drums run clockwise

from the film, while the lever H2 is moved to the left by the tension of the spring F and presses the film against the transport drum T2 by means of the pressure roller D2. In this way, by turning the eccentric disk by 1800, the direction of travel of the film is reversed.
On the axis A there is also a screw spindle (not shown in the figure) connected to the eccentric, which is mounted in the housing wall and, by means of a nut, moves the optical system of the apparatus perpendicular to the direction of movement of the film. The pitch of the screw spindle is chosen so that the axial displacement occurring with a rotation of 1800 corresponds to the distance from one recording to the next. If you turn the screw spindle with the eccentric disk once by 180, the direction of movement of the film is reversed and the optics of the apparatus are advanced from the first to the second recording.
A further rotation in the same sun around 1800 lets the film run again in the original direction. while the optics are shifted from the second to the third recording.
