Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
Verfahren zur Herstellung von Kathoden für Entladungsrohren.
EMI1.1
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Process for the production of cathodes for discharge tubes.
EMI1.1
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
If necessary, a metal used to reduce the compound of the emitting metal can be used in excess quantities, at the same time serve to produce the alloy of the emitting metal or, conversely, a metal used to produce the alloy also serve as a reducing agent for the connection of the emitting metal.
The cathode preparation takes place, for example, as follows: The reaction mixture - which z. B. contains a small amount of aluminum in addition to barium oxide and magnesium is placed in a nickel boat and the whole is enclosed in an evacuated quartz tube or filled with inert gases. The reaction mixture is then heated to such an extent that the reaction begins. Then the temperature is increased for a short time so that the resulting alkaline earth metal is alloyed with the aluminum. The reaction mixture will then cool down
EMI2.1
Stand in air without the resulting alkaline earth metal, z. B. barium, changes in air.
The reaction product obtained in this way is now used or processed in the same way as, for. B. in Patent No. 124086 is described.
The cathode can optionally also be used as a connecting cathode, such as oxide cathode, sulfide cathode, etc.
In this process, use can also be made of reaction mixtures which react endothermically.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Process for the production of cathodes for discharge tubes characterized. that a compound of the emitting metal, in particular alkaline earth metal oxide. containing reaction mixture, which is capable of reducing this compound and producing an alloy of the emitting metal formed by reduction, is heated so far before its application in the discharge tube in a vacuum or in an inert gas until the compound of the emitting metal (alkaline earth metal oxide) is partially reduced and an alloy of the resulting emitting metal is formed, whereupon the reaction product produced in this way is introduced into the discharge tube, attached to the anode near the cathode, and brought to further reaction or decomposition.
