In

Bei sogenannter Endlosvervielfältigung, d. i.

The invention relates to a machine for transfer printing of originals provided with printable mirror writing on print sheets, sheets and. Like. A machine of this type is the subject of Austrian patent No. 113475: from this the subject of the invention differs fundamentally in several points. The device according to patent no. 113475 is not suitable for motor drive, since there is no suitable switch-off device which allows the duplication device to be stopped while the drive motor is still running in order to introduce a new sheet for duplication. In this machine, the counter-pressure roller cannot be readjusted and regulated with respect to its position in relation to the pressure roller, since it is suspended in non-adjustable bearings.
Furthermore, only originals of such length that correspond to the circumference of the printing roller can be reproduced here, since the counter-pressure roller must be lifted off with each revolution of the printing roller in order to avoid the original jig protruding above the printing roller jacket surface.
In contrast, in the subject matter of the invention, the pressure of the counter-pressure roller against the pressure roller can be gradually increased, which allows better use of the original mirror writing, so that more reproductions can be achieved.
The operation of the machine is as follows: the original is clamped on a roller and the sheet to be printed is passed between this and a counter-pressure roller pressed against it, after it has been provided with a puffy, quick-drying liquid coating by a dampening device. The moistening device, which for this purpose is provided with absorbent material, felt, wadding or the like and is soaked from a storage container with a quickly permeating and easily evaporating liquid, presses with the protruding, soft material edge on the sheet to be printed, and As the pressure roller continues to rotate, this receives the puff-like, quickly evaporating moisture.
The essence of the machine consists in an inevitable switching of the printing roller, counter-pressure roller and moistening device from the drive in such a way that during manual operation, simply turning the hand crank moistening the sheet to be printed, printing and executing the printed sheet, and with an electric drive simple actuation of a gear lever sets the machine in motion and duplication is accomplished.
In the drawing, exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are illustrated, u. Between Fig. 1 shows the design of the machine for motorized drive, Fig. 2 shows the side view of the machine, Fig. 3 shows the design of the machine for manual operation. 4 shows the drive device and the associated switching elements seen from the side, and FIG. 5 shows the clamping device for the original on the printing drum.
According to the drawing, the pressure roller 2 is rotatably mounted in the machine frame and is connected to the drive by means of a gear transmission. The counterpressure roller 3, which advantageously consists of elastic building material, is variable in terms of its pressure against the pressure roller 2. For this purpose, the axis 4 of the counterpressure roller 3 is mounted in the bearing levers 5 and 6 with bearing journals arranged eccentrically to the axis center. By means of the handle 7 fastened on the extended axle 4, the counter-pressure roller J can be pressed more or less against the pressure roller 2 and fixed in its respective position relative to the pressure roller by the adjusting nut 8. On the handle 7 there is an approach 9. In

in connection, which is operated by the shift lever 38.
Gear lever. 38 is limited in its movement by the stop 49. The entire system is held in the switched-off position by the tension spring 39; H. The pawl 35 is lifted off the ratchet wheel 30 by the lever M and the coupling with the pressure roller 2 is thereby released.
In manual operation, these parts come with the exception of gear wheel 31, which in this case is firmly connected to pressure roller 2, and pinion 32 is omitted, and the hand crank is attached to the axis of pinion 32.
The machine works as follows:
The original to be reproduced is clamped with the mirror writing side facing outwards on the pressure roller 2 with the aid of the clamping device. The moistening device 11 is connected to a storage vessel 40 for the moistening liquid. The sheet of paper which is to receive the impression is now pushed onto the feed table 41 under the moistening device 11, which is now in the raised position, up between the pressure rollers. By turning the pressure roller, the articulated roller lever 13, which is firmly connected to the moistening device, falls off the nose of the cam disk 12, and the moistening device is thus resiliently placed on the sheet to be printed. This is carried along by the rotating rollers and the imprint is thereby produced.
When the pressure roller 2, and thus the cam disc 12 firmly connected to it, has completed one revolution, the articulated roller lever 13 has again run onto the nose of the cam disc 12 and has thus raised the moistening device again. At the same time, the index pin 18 or the roller of the index roller lever is also snapped into the hole 17 or into the catch on the cam disk 12 corresponding to the roller of the roller lever, so that the pressure roller is now back in its initial position.
With a motorized drive, the drive motor is switched on first. Gear 31 and thus the ratchet wheel 30 initially runs idle around the stationary printing roller axis. Now, as with the manual drive, the sheet of paper or the like receiving the impression is introduced and pushed between the pressure rollers.
If the switching lever 38 is now depressed, the pull rod 37 rotates the lever 34 about the axis of the pressure roller, whereby the pawl 35 is raised and falls behind the lever 34 onto the rotating ratchet wheel 30. At the same time, the index pin 18 is pressed out of the hole 17 on the cam disk 12 and the pressure roller 2 is released for one rotation. The pawl 35, which is attached to the pressure roller 2, is taken along by the ratchet wheel 30 and thus rotates the pressure roller. The function of the moistening device remains the same as with the manual drive.
When the pressure roller 2 has made one revolution and thereby made the impression, the pawl 35 is raised by the lever 34, which has in the meantime been brought into its original position by the tension spring 39, and thereby brought out of engagement with the ratchet wheel 30, so that the pressure roller stops while the index pin 18 snaps into the hole 17 or the index roller snaps into its detent on the cam.
In order to make another duplication, it is only necessary to insert a new sheet of paper and depress the switch lever 38, whereupon the whole process is repeated.
In the case of so-called endless reproduction, d. i. Duplication of an original on a continuous strip of paper, or in the case of duplication of originals whose length is greater than the circumference of the printing roller, it is only necessary to turn over the part with the roller of the articulated roller lever 13 so that the roller no longer falls on the nose of the cam disk 12 runs up and the moistening device now rests permanently on the impression sheet. The switch lever 38 is held permanently in the switched-on position either by hand or by a special holding device, which means that the pawl 35 immediately recouples with the ratchet wheel 30 after each rotation of the pressure roller 2, i.e. the pressure roller 2 is constantly taken along.
The resilient index pin 18 is also pressed off the cam plate 12 as long as the switching lever 38 is switched on, so that the pressure roller can now rotate continuously without hindrance.
PATENT CLAIMS:
