Process for the production of a solid, non-hygroscopic ammonium sulphate nitrate.

Attempts have already been made to obtain a solid, non-hygroscopic ammonium sulphate nitrate by adding calcium nitrate to the salt or a solution and drying the mixture while moving. It has now been found that particularly beneficial effects are achieved if the calcium nitrate is only used in amounts of up to 20%, calculated on the total amount. It is therefore by no means necessary to use calcium nitrate in such an amount that complete conversion of the ammonium sulfate contained in the mixed salt is possible. This finding is important because it has hitherto generally been assumed that the amount of calcium salt required to produce a non-hygroscopic ammonium sulfate nitrate is as much as is required to convert the entire amount of ammonium sulfate into calcium sulfate.

The ammonium sulphate nitrate containing calf nitrate can be produced in any way.

For example, the above-mentioned amount can be added to the mixed salt or its solution and the mixture can be dried with movement. The calcium nitrate can be applied in a strong or saturated solution to the dry or water-containing ammonium sulphate nitrate mixtures in any way, which can be combined with drying with agitation. Furthermore, mixed salts or solutions can be mixed with dry or moist calcium nitrate and the mixture can be dried with agitation.

The method can e.g. B. can be carried out as follows:
Example 1: A solid mixture of 80 kg of ammonium nitrate with 120 kg of ammonium sulfate is added every hour to a heated screw provided with a steam jacket. At the same time, the entering salt mixture is sprayed over at one end of the screw by means of nozzles or a distributor pipe provided with holes with 14 kg of 500 wanner, 70 percent by weight calcium nitrate liquor per hour. The dried product obtained (213 kg / h) has a granular structure.

Example 2: In a spacious mixing machine, 33 kg of a cold 61% calcium nitrate lye are added in a thin stream to 300 kg of undried montan nitrate with 26% N2 and 30 HO in batches or continuously. After thorough mixing, the moist salt mixture is dried in a rotary oven at 90-1000. A well spreadable fertilizer is obtained with 25-1% N and 3-7% water.
