Fig. 2 zeigt den fertiggestellten Verschluss.

Method for attaching the introduction wires and the pump tube to electrical discharge charge u. like vessels.
EMI1.1
with glass walls the lead-in wires are usually inserted through a plug made on a foot tube. Two processes are observed here. In the first one, one end of the foot tube is melted and compressed into a solid mass surrounding the wires; in the second, the other end, which is provided with a flange, is fused to the walls of the vessel.
Methods have been proposed and used in which a
Pump tube can be attached to the plug. The invention is an improvement on this
EMI1.2
@ Pump tube.
According to the invention, the open end of the glass vessel is closed, the insertion wires are also attached and a series of pump tubes are connected, and the like. by a method that consists in bringing a closure body made of glass with pump tubes attached to it into the mouth of the vessel, the mouth parts and the closure body are softened by heating and the glass material of the mouth and the closure body around the insertion wires by means of pressure - forces are pressed, which are brought into action between the outside of the vessel and the closure body, with the exception of the inner parts of the pump tube.
The closure body can consist of a flange at the end of the pump tube and the pressure forces can act between a part through which the pump tube is passed and other outer parts of the vessel.
The method is illustrated in the drawing, for example. Fig. 1 shows the pump tubes and the lead-in wires in the open end of an electrical discharge vessel, e.g. B. an electron tube in readiness for heating and pressing for the purpose of producing the closure. Fig. 2 shows the completed closure.
In the chosen embodiment, the foot of the main vessel is designed as a tube 1; the insertion wires 2 are held during the process in such a way that they lie along the inner wall of the tube 1. Its upper end is connected in some way to the electrodes of the device. The pump tube 3 has at its end a flange with such a bent back
Edges 4 that an annular groove 5 surrounding the pump tube is formed. With this end, the pump tube is inserted into the mouth of the tube 1 in such a way that the insertion wires 2 come to lie between the open end of the vessel and the bent edges 4 of the pump tube. The insertion wires are distributed approximately evenly over the circumference of the tube 1.
The foot of the
Tube 1 and the edge parts 4 of the pump tube are now heated and pressed together to form the closing body. For this purpose, a tubular mandrel 7 is placed in the annular groove 5 of the pump tube 3 and a narrowable ring 6 is placed around the outside of the end of the tube 1. The ring 6 is drawn together in such a way that the molten glass of the tubes is squeezed together and pressed around the insertion wires.
Instead of the narrowable ring 6, a roller can be attached to the outside of the
Tube 1 is placed and the tube 1 together with the mandrel and rows of pump tubes are set in rotation with respect to the roller, so that the roller compresses the glass against the mandrel in order to form the closing body.

It has already been proposed to attach a pump tube to the vessel and at the same time melt the insertion wires into the walls by bringing the wires and the pump tubes into the mouth of the container, mathing the glass and pressing between the outside of the container and a mandrel inserted into the pump tubes was exercised. From this proposal is enough

split wires, become much larger than those of the pump tube; this second advantage is very important when a large number of lead-in wires have to be passed through the terminating body, since this maintains a corresponding distance between them.
