Fig. 1 die Seitenansicht der Entdrallvorrichtung.

Process for the production of low-twist wire strands and ropes.
The invention is a method for reducing twist tensions in wire ropes or strands, in which the finished rope or strand is curved. There are already known untwisting devices in which a curvature of the finished ropes or strands takes place in one plane by a set of rollers, but they are not suitable for inducing immediate untwisting. According to another known method, the tensions are to be eliminated in that while the rope is being pulled through, two adjacent parts of the same are simultaneously bent in the opposite direction in circular paths.
In this method, the points of application of the bending forces move helically around the rope, so that each rope or strand part is only bent in two different directions. In contrast to these methods, the twist reduction in the subject matter of the invention is achieved while avoiding twisting of any kind, in that the finished rope or strand is bent in each part by sets of rollers in more than two radial directions. Strong multiple bending of the rope or strand in different directions neutralizes the tension in the stranding material, which causes the resilient resistance force in the formation of the helix.
The most advantageous rolling device for this corresponds in its structural design to a known rolling device for straightening bars with a fixed structure insofar as several sets of rolls are provided there, one behind the other. The rolling device is expediently installed behind the press jaw head of the stranding machine. Ropes or strands treated in this way do not lose their strength of the structure of the twisting lay against each other, as is the case with other methods, so that the subsequent stretching that otherwise occurs during use is prevented.
The drawing shows the exemplary embodiment of a device which can be used to carry out the method according to the invention. Fig. 1 is a side view of the untwisting device. 2 shows a plan view of this and FIGS. 3 and 4 show a roller bearing.
After the stranding material d has left the stranding head in a known manner in a radial fashion, the lay of the cable in the split press jaw head a is produced in a likewise conventional manner.
Immediately behind the press jaw head a is a pair of rollers b, c profiled exactly to the cross section of the strand s or the rope, through which the strand or the rope drawn through is calibrated in a known manner. For de-twisting, it is useful to use sets of curling rollers e, el, e, el, which are known per se, arranged behind the calibration rollers b, c.
EMI1.1
In the illustrated embodiment, the roller sets belonging to each cable bend are arranged one behind the other and transversely to one another in their axial directions. so that the curvature of the strand or the rope s is possible in different radial directions.
The degree of curvature of the strand or the rope and the number of curvatures is selected in this way. that the internal tension of the material and consequently the twist is eliminated by the frequent bends. From this it follows that the degree of curvature of the strand or the rope must be greater than the degree of winding of the wires resting in the strand or in the rope.
After untwisting, the strand or the rope s can be straightened again, u. between two pairs of rollers i, 'which are known to be arranged transversely to one another. which can also be calibrated.
