Die Anwendung erfolgt bei Walzgut in der Weise, dass dieses möglichst unmittelbar nach dem Walzvorgang, also noch bei entsprechend hoher Temperatur, den Auftrag der Mischung erfährt. Es genÜgt aber auch, das Halbgut oder das Fabrikat mit der Mischung zu bestreichen.
Nach dem Auftragen der Kumaronmischung wird das Werkstück mit einem Überzug von Paraffin od. dgl. versehen. Bekanntlich wurde Paraffin allein schon als Rostschutzmittel verwendet, doch hat es sich aus dem Grunde nicht bewähren können, weil es nicht auf der Eisen-oder Stahlunterlage haftet, sondern blasig aufzustehen und zu reissen pflegt. Die Adhäsion zwischen Paraffin od. dgl. und der Kumaronmischung ist dagegen eine so bedeutende, dass hier ein Loslösen völlig hintangehalten wird.
Zudem wirkt der Paraffinaufstrich glättend und wasserabweisend.
Bleche werden zweckmässig so behandelt, dass man sie nach dem Walzen eine Vierfachwatzenstrasse passieren lässt, deren erstes und drittes Walzenpaar die Kumaronmischung bzw. Paraffin od. dgl. aufbringen, während die zweiten und vierten Walzenpaare die Glättung des Auftrages bewirken. Derartig präparierte Bleche bedürfen unter Umständen keiner Dekapierung.
PATENT-ANSPRÜCHE :
1. Verfahren zur Erzeugung eines Rostschutzmittels, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass Kumaronliarzlösungen mit Formaldehyd und mit geringen Mengen von Ammoniak unter möglichster Befreiung von jedem Wassergehalt versetzt werden, so dass sich für das wasserfreie Endprodukt ein etwaiges Verhältnis
