Sheet metal bodies for electrical machines and apparatus.

The invention relates to a sheet metal body for electrical machines and apparatus, which is held together by a support cage welded together from end rings or plates and essentially axially extending rods. This support cage gives the laminated core complete rigidity, so that further fastening means, such as clamping bolts, rivets or the like, become superfluous if the laminated core is welded to the carrier cage in the context of the invention. It is sufficient to weld at individual points which, for. B. can extend along the axial cage bars. The axial rods of the welded supporting cage can also lie entirely or partially in grooves in the laminated core.

These grooves are expediently pre-punched in the individual sheets, which results in a particularly simple assembly with the support cage.

Exemplary embodiments of the invention are shown in the drawing. Fig. 1 shows a simplified support cage made of end rings or plates e and with them welded, axial rods a. FIGS. 2 and 3 show particular arrangements of the cage bars. According to FIG. 2, the cage bars a lying freely on the circumference of the sheet metal body b are welded to this at the points s; According to FIG. 3, the bars a are inserted into grooves in the laminated core b and welded to this at s.

The bars of the supporting cage can also consist entirely or in part of welding material. FIGS. 4 and 5 show such embodiments. According to FIG. 4, the rod a is entirely made of welding material; According to FIG. 5, core rods k of, for example, round cross-section are inserted into grooves in the laminated core b and here the grooves are completely filled with welding material s. The cage bars a therefore partly consist of a core k and partly of welding material s.

The welded-on support cage can also advantageously be used as a cage winding, in particular as a cage winding in squirrel cage motors. The manufacture of the rotor is considerably simplified as a result, since all other parts used to brace the laminated rotor core are omitted.

Iron or another weldable material that meets the mechanical and electrical requirements can be used as welding material. If the welding material is to be used to conduct electricity, copper, for example, can be used.

The bars of the supporting cage can also run obliquely or according to helical lines in a group or two groups crossing one another in a grid-like manner. Fig ss shows schematically an arrangement in which the rods run obliquely.

The sheet metal body according to the invention can be inserted into a housing with its welded support cage and possibly welded in. To cool the laminated core, it is useful if the axial rods of the welded support cage protrude radially beyond the circumference of the end rings or plates or are welded on their circumference in such a way that a gap remains free for a coolant. In FIGS. 7-9, two such exemplary embodiments are shown in section. Since the fitting surfaces only need to lie on the axial rods, the work of fitting into the stand is also made easier.

7 and 8 show a built-in motor. The laminated core b carrying the winding w is held by the rings e and the rods a welded to their circumference. Over these lies a cylindrical sheet metal jacket welded to them. The space between this and the laminated core b is used to accommodate a coolant. Flanges are welded to the end faces of the jacket m and serve to fasten the motor.

According to FIG. 9, a laminated core b with a welded support cage is installed in a cast housing g. The laminated core b is held by longitudinal ribs t of the housing g, between which the support cage bars a lie. The cavities that remain free serve to guide the cooling air.
