EMI1.1

EMI1.1
The regulation of the speed of induction motors without a commutator (single or polyphase asynchronous motors) or with a commutator (three-phase shunt motors with rotor or
Stator supply) using a leakage resistance is very easy. However, it has the fundamental disadvantage that it can only be used for a specific torque that is known in advance. If the actual torque differs from the assumed one, the motor can be z. B. regulate very little if the torque is too small or it stops if the torque is too high. This regulation is difficult in particular in the case of motors for driving paper calenders because the torque required here fluctuates within very large limits during operation and therefore cannot be specified in advance.
According to the invention, the described disadvantage is substantially reduced in that winding parts of its secondary winding are switched on or off one after the other to control the motor.
For example, instead of three phases as before, you will only drive with two or only one phase. However, you can also leave the number of phases unchanged and switch off the winding parts within the individual phases at the phases that are divided into several winding parts. In order to be able to easily switch the phases or winding parts on or off, the induction motor can be equipped with more than three slip rings.
The drawing shows a diagram of the decrease in the speed of the induction motor when the number of phases is changed secondarily. Straight line 1 shows the speed characteristic for three phases, curve 2 the speed for two phases and curve 3 the speed for only one phase. It can be seen that with the aid of the method of the invention one can easily adapt to the operating conditions, for example when driving a paper calender.
