Metal capsule seal made of two halves flanged into each other.
The subject of the invention is a sheet metal capsule seal made of two halves flanged into each other, the outer of which has a circumferential groove and then a beaded edge flanged inward when the seal is closed, into which the edge of the inner capsule half, which is cylindrical and advantageously cut, is flanged before the seal is closed. The invention consists in the fact that the beaded edge of the outer capsule half is already present on the unsealed seal in an inwardly open configuration and, in conjunction with the groove, the cylindrical edge of the inner half serves as a support and guide when bending and flanging.
Compared to known designs of sheet metal capsule seals, this design has the advantage that the flanged connection, which offers increased security of closure, is only achieved by pressing the two capsule halves together, for example, without the aid of special pliers. B. by means of an ordinary parallel pliers, sufficient for all pliers sizes, or even by strong finger pressure.
The drawing shows an embodiment of the invention. FIG. 1 is a longitudinal section through the open seal and FIG. 2 is a plan view of the bead side. FIG. 3 shows a section through the folded seal before it is pressed shut, and FIG. 4 shows a section through the closed seal and the two pressing parts of the sealing pliers. The cord is omitted in the figures for the sake of clarity; it is introduced in a known manner.
The inwardly open sealing bead a of the outer capsule half is already produced during the manufacture of the seal, while in the case of the seals of the known type this bead is only rolled up during use. The bead a adjoins a circumferential groove e of a type known per se. In the embodiment shown, the inner capsule half b has a cylindrical edge c, the outer diameter of which corresponds to the inner diameter of the sealing bead a, but this edge c can also be interrupted for the purpose of easier curling, e.g. B. be incised.
When the capsule half b is inserted into the outer half, the edge c meets the groove e and is supported by the sealing bead a (FIG. 3). By pressure

In the case of seals according to the invention, it is possible to use sealing pliers with similar pressed parts d for all seal sizes; this prevents incorrect insertion of the seal. The durability of the pressed parts cl is unlimited, because they only need to press the seal shut, but do not need to crimp as with the known sealing pliers.
