   Durch eine derartige Ausbildung des Belages werden nebst den erwähnten angestrebten auch noch die folgenden Vorteile erzielt : Möglichkeit der Normalisierung des Belages für die einzelnen Riemenbreiten ;
 EMI1.1

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

   PATENT-ANSPRÜCHE    : - ;

  Drive belt with friction lining.

   The invention relates to drive belts made of any material, e.g. B. leather, fabric or the like. Od with a friction-increasing covering made of pieces of leather.

   In the case of the known belts with a friction lining in the form of longitudinal strips or the like, natural wear and tear often results in the need to replace individual strips or the like.

   The object of the invention is now to reduce the need to replace individual parts of the friction lining to a minimum and to facilitate the replacement itself.

  The invention consists in that the covering consists of covering pieces or parts which are in the form of grids or the like formed from longitudinal and transverse strips, suitably in the form of frames.

   By designing the covering in this way, the following advantages are also achieved in addition to the advantages mentioned: possibility of normalizing the covering for the individual belt widths;
 EMI1.1
   Attachment option, since the connected strips allow easier and more even application and can be better adapted to the existing rivet holes; easier handling during the production of the straps (e.g.

   B. in place of the long stripes); easy, quick and cheap production of the lining pieces by punching; Experience has shown that more favorable power transmission through facing pieces in the form of a closed strip system and the possibility of using far fewer rivets or the like for fastening the facing pieces, which results in a reduction in the cross-sectional weakening of the belt.

   And all of these advantages can also be achieved while adhering to the principle that the areas of the belt free of coating should be relatively large.

   The subject matter of the invention is illustrated by exemplary embodiments in the drawing.

   Figs. 1-10 show different frame or. Lattice-shaped designs of the covering pieces.

   In Fig. 11 an example of an arrangement of the lining pieces on the belt and in Figs. 12-15 a sole which particularly protects the edges of the belt is shown.

   16 and 17 show an embodiment of the covering pieces in which the transverse strips qi, which form the outer boundary of the covering pieces, and possibly also the cross connecting strips Q3 etc. lying within the boundary are bevelled in a wedge shape at the run-up edge in order to create a gentle, To ensure smooth running onto the belt pulley or the like.

   It can be seen from these figures that the individual covering pieces can have the most varied of shapes, from a simple frame to quite multiple structured lattice figures, which are formed by a corresponding, also offset arrangement of longitudinal and transverse strips in the simple frame. The cross connections serve, on the one hand, to hold the longitudinal strips together and, on the other hand, to support the free belt surface between the longitudinal strips against the pulley rim.

   Depending on the width and design of the covering pieces, more or less of the same with or without a gap, optionally also against one another, are arranged on the belt.

   In order to prevent the longitudinal strips from being compressed, they can be provided with transverse grooves, notches or the like, wherein the grooves or the like in the various longitudinal strips can also be offset from one another. For the same purpose, the individual lining pieces can also be arranged on the belt with a gap in the longitudinal direction.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   If the longitudinal strips are made wider, they can also be provided with longitudinal grooves, which is particularly advantageous when using cambered belt pulleys. At most, the transverse strips can also be designed in the same way.

   The longitudinal strips b of the covering pieces coming to lie on the longitudinal edges of the belt can, as illustrated in FIGS. 12-15, be arranged protruding over the edge of the belt to protect the belt edges and possibly with a corresponding strip r on the back of the belt (Fig . 14) be riveted. The protruding part of the strip can also be bent around the edge of the belt and placed on the other side of the belt; the two parts of the strip are then connected to the belt by means of common rivets or the like passing through the belt (FIG. 15). The rivet heads or the like are expediently sunk into correspondingly milled depressions or recesses in the belt or the covering pieces or strips.

   The covering of the belt can consist of covering pieces of the same shape or of different shapes as shown in FIG. 11; under certain circumstances a combination of covering pieces according to the invention and individual simple strips or the like can also be advantageous.

   Emery cloth can also advantageously be used as an intermediate layer between the belt and the covering pieces.
