Korrosionssiehere und feuerbeständige Stahllegierungen.
EMI1.1

Corrosion-resistant and fire-resistant steel alloys.
EMI1.1
is. Examples of such alloys are a chromium steel with 0 # 20% carbon, 1% silicon, 19% chromium and 800 tantalum and a chromium-nickel steel with 0 # 70% carbon, 5% chromium, 21% nickel and 4% tantalum.
In the meantime, chrome steels have become known through American patents, in which the lower limit of the tantalum addition can also be below 1%, although, as can be seen from the exemplary embodiments cited therein, higher tantalum contents are practically consistently preferred, but always for those chrome steels that have a any existing nickel content have the restriction that this should be either below 5% or above 15%.
It has now been shown that especially with chromium-nickel steels with n-15% nickel, even very small additions of tantalum, which are added twice in the form of ferro-tantalum, are sufficient to favorably influence the corrosion resistance. This knowledge is all the more valuable as intergranular corrosion occurs especially with austenitic chromium-nickel steels with the known nickel content of about 500-900 when the material is not subjected to a quenching treatment and also through subsequent heating of the quenched material to temperatures of around 500-900 C - as it is used especially in welding - a state is reached again which leads to intergranular corrosion.
According to the invention, the steel alloys mentioned. which preferentially tend to intergranular corrosion, an addition of 0 # 05-1% tantalum is added to ensure their corrosion resistance to the greatest possible extent. This opens up a much larger area of use for these steel alloys, since, apart from the improvement in the resistance properties, the costs of the tantalum compound no longer play an essential role.
