EMI1.1

EMI1.1
To apply the fabric to the printing table before printing, the fabric is stretched on tables of very great length (30-40 ni). According to one method, a so-called double (fabric base) made of calico or flannel is needled or pinned to the edges of the table.
The fabric to be printed is then stretched onto the double and, in turn, needled onto it.
The places where the fabric is to be needled on must be determined very precisely so that the printing and the division of the drawings hit the desired places as precisely as possible; In addition, it is necessary that the needling takes place with the aid of needles placed very close together so that the edge or the strip of the fabric runs in a straight line and not in a wave-like manner.
A second known method has the advantage over the first-mentioned method that it prevents the tissue from shifting; it consists in the fact that the double, which can consist of wax canvas and is attached to the table with the help of needles or pins according to the first-mentioned method, receives some kind of glue or glue applied by hand; the fabric to be printed is then placed on the adhesive layer and attached to the double by drying the adhesive using a hot iron, thereby ensuring that the fabric adheres to the base.
Both preparatory processes require a relatively long time for needling and have the further disadvantage that the double wears out quickly because the strips suffer greatly from the repeated needling and consequently the base often tears at the strips or edges.
When mechanically printing artificial silk fabrics with the aid of roller printing machines, a further method is used in which special perforated rollers, so-called "mille point" rollers, are closed in front of the printing roller or rollers to hold the coated fabric web on the double the purpose of which is to prevent the fabric from shifting by simply pressing. However, it is not actually a matter of sticking, because the paint is not dried; When it leaves the machine, the still moist tissue is pulled off the double in order to be exposed to the action of heating plates.
The purpose of the invention is to avoid all of the abovementioned inconveniences and to prepare the fabric for printing in a perfect manner, while saving time and labor.
The invention is essentially characterized by the fact that the fabric to be printed is only brought into contact with the double, which was previously expediently mechanically covered with a very evenly distributed adhesive layer, at the moment when a drying and pressure effect is exerted, the sticking together takes place almost simultaneously with drying and the fabric with the double leaves the printing links to be transferred to the printing table.
In one embodiment of the device for carrying out the method, a printing table of comparatively short length is used, which corresponds approximately to the length of an imprint.
The double combined with the glued-on fabric is carried by an endless length of fabric, which is moved automatically or by hand by the length of the latter after each imprint.
A compensation device is expediently attached between the screening machine and the printing table, which ensures that, despite the intermittent displacement of the fabric on the printing table and the continuous bonding of the fabric webs, they are always kept at the correct tension. One can of course provide a plurality of print views one after the other, on which the fabric is printed with different colors.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The method forming the subject of the invention makes a large part of the manual work previously required superfluous and significantly protects the fabric underlays (double), which no longer tear on the strips as a result of repeated needling. In addition, a contraction of the fabric to be printed is reliably prevented because it forms a body with the double. At the same time, one achieves the advantage that one can print on the same fabric web locations with several colors one behind the other without the risk of shifting the individual drawings.
The invention can be used for a wide variety of printing processes, be it in a frame or on a table, and a wide variety of printing devices can also be used.
The drawing shows an embodiment of the invention.
The double 1 withdrawn from the roller 2 moves over a suitably curved table 3 and is evenly covered on one side of its surfaces, for example by an atomizer -1 or by a delivery roller, with a thin layer of gum arabic or with another adhesive.
The fabric 5 to be printed comes from a roller 6 and lies against the adhesive surface of the double at the moment when both layers of fabric are guided together between the rollers 7, one of which is heated. These rollers form a calender, which presses the double against the fabric to be printed with heavy pressure, so that both fabric webs are completely united with one another and only form one piece; At the same time as this union, the heated roller also causes the adhesive to dry.
In the case of the device shown, it is assumed that, on the one hand, fabric and double are continuous

on the fabric and causes the print.
The pressure device can be moved either manually or mechanically depending on the movement of the traveling web 11.
The printed fabric is then picked up at 14 after it has passed the drying cylinders and can be removed from the double mechanically or by hand without difficulty.
If the drawings to be printed are to be multicolored, then it is sufficient to make the same print for each color, which can be carried out in the manner described.
In this case, a heating plate is provided between the individual tables.
The balancing device with counterweight can be omitted if the printing of the fabric webs is not to be carried out immediately or if the device which glues the fabric to the double does not work continuously but works synchronously with the printing apparatus. In this case, the adhesive must also be applied to the double intermittently.
If the fabric is not printed immediately after gluing, then the fabric glued to its carrier is wound up on a tree when it emerges from the gluing device, in order to be printed on at the given time on a printing table or in some other way.
