Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
Verfahren zum Konservieren von Pelzwerk, Kleider und anderen Textilerzeugnissen.
EMI1.1

Process for the preservation of fur, clothes and other textile products.
EMI1.1
until the atmospheric air is completely displaced, after which the container, which is only filled with carbonic acid, is closed.
The invention now consists in using nitrogen as the protective gas. As detailed tests with pests of all kinds have shown, this absolutely neutral (inert) gas leaves the substances to be preserved completely unaffected, while it kills the pests (moths, even their larvae) after just 24 hours.
Since nitrogen forms the main component of atmospheric air, there is not the slightest concern about passing the nitrogen through the container in living or working rooms and setting up the closed containers filled with this gas in such rooms, since the amounts of nitrogen flowing out in the process change the composition the room air practically not change at all.
In this way, the method according to the invention differs advantageously from the aforementioned use of carbonic acid, which is dangerous, even fatal, even in very small admixture with the breathing air (2 to 5%).
Finally, it should be noted that it has already been proposed to preserve fruits, vegetables and the like. Like. To conduct a continuous flow of inert gases (including, for example, nitrogen) with a certain degree of moisture through the container receiving the goods to be preserved.
The invention differs from this method in the completely different field of application and also in that nitrogen of the commercial purity is used as the protective gas without the addition of moisture, which moreover only flows through the preservation container for as long as it is practically sufficient to displace the oxygen is required while the preservation is going on even in a still nitrogen atmosphere.
