Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

Electric discharge lamp or light tube.

The invention relates to electric discharge lamps or fluorescent tubes which have a mercury vapor filling and also a filling placed in the lamp vessel or inside the tube
Have luminophore layer. It is known that with a suitable choice of the luminophore, e.g. B. a yellow-luminescent zinc silicate, the blue-green mercury radiation by adding the yellow
Luminescent light gets a white appearance. However, the emitted mixture does not contain all the colors in even an approximately daylight-like distribution or completeness, which is why such lamps and tubes could previously only be used for outdoor advertising purposes, but not for indoor lighting purposes.

The invention is based on the knowledge that of such discharge lamps or
Fluorescent tubes filled with mercury vapor and a luminophore layer attached to the inside of the vessel, emitted light with a suitable choice of the discharge current density and the luminophore or activator of the same can be made extremely similar to daylight, u. when, according to the invention, at a current density of the discharge of 0-1 to 0-5 Amp / cm2, the lamp has a luminophore layer made of such a cadmium silicate that is activated with 0-5-1% manganese.

If the manganese content falls below the specified level, the yield of luminescent light is low, and the red content of the luminescent radiation is also insufficient. If the specified manganese content is exceeded, the relative red content of the luminescent light is sufficient, but the overall yield of luminescent light is far too low. The luminescence light achieved is orange and accordingly has a multiple of red compared to daylight, but this is necessary because the luminescence only makes up part of the total radiation of the lamp or tube. The excess of red in the luminescent light serves to fill or supplement the queek silver radiation, which is known to contain no red.

The mixing ratio of luminescent light and visible mercury radiation necessary to achieve a light that is largely similar to that of daylight is strongly dependent on the current density of the discharge, since the content of luminescence-inducing ultraviolet radiation and visible queeksilver radiation changes in the opposite direction when the current density changes. As has been established, a correct ratio of the two types of radiation can only be achieved within the specified current density of the discharge of 0.1 to 0-5 amp / cm when using cadmium silicate activated with 0.5 to 1% manganese.

If the power supply is chosen to be higher, the green-blue mercury light predominates in the total radiation, while if the power supply is too low, the red luminescence is too strong.

All the colors of daylight are present in the total radiation emitted, namely the violet, blue, green and yellow queek silver lines, plus the yellow-red continuum of the luminescent light. However, between the blue and green mercury lines there is a blotch of color, which, however, generally does not interfere. With particularly high demands on the Tagesliehtähnlichkeit the light, as z. B. are placed in dye works, 10-30% of a blue-green luminescent substance can be added to the cadmium silicate used as the luminophore, activated with 0'5-1%. Zinc or magnesium tungstate is preferably used for this.

The tubular vessel and the electrodes can be designed as desired.
