rests snugly on the circumference of the bearing sleeve, the two freely resilient end parts 4, 4 'are individually stressed to bend in the dangerous cross-sections' 1'12 of the spring. However, if the bearing sleeve, as in the present case, is made of elastic material, the part of the spring wound around the elastic sleeve 12 is contracted when the parts 1, 4 'move against one another. As a result, when the switching device is actuated, the spring is subjected to even bending stress both along its free end parts 4, 4 ′ and along the part wound around the elastic sleeve 12. This ensures a further extension of the service life of the switching device.
Support means 6, 6 'for supporting the spring 4, 4' are provided on the base plate 15 of the switching device. 14 with a foot step connected to the shift lever 7 for actuating the switching device is designated.
The operation of the switching device is as follows:
In order to start, the motorcyclist must first switch on the first speed.
For this purpose he pulls the footstep 14 with the tip of his foot and with it the rigidly connected shift lever 1 into the position shown in FIG. When the shift lever 1 is raised, the shift element 2 is rotated by a certain amount about the axis of rotation 9 and, to a much lesser extent, the shift element 2 as a whole, including the shift lever 1, is rotated about the bolt 13. This rotation is due to the fact that during the downward movement of the fulcrum 9 the support means 5 'lifts off the end part 4' of the spring, since the end 4 'of the spring rests on the support means 6' and therefore cannot perform a downward movement. The support means 5 tensions the other end part 4 of the spring by its downward movement.
As a result of this tension, the support means 5 tries to assume such a position that the straight line connecting the pivot point 9 and the support means 5 is perpendicular to the spring end 4. As a result, the switching element 2 rotates about the pivot point 9 in the opposite direction of the clockwise direction (FIG. 1). This rotation continues until the tooth 7 'of the switching element 2 engages in a corresponding tooth gap of the switching wheel.'3. This ends the first phase of the switching movement. If the motorcyclist pulls the shift lever 1 even further up with the tip of his foot, the shift wheel 3 is rotated around the bolt 18, since the shift lever 1 is now positively coupled with the shift element 2 via the teeth 7 ′ and teeth 8 ′ of the shift wheel 3 is (Fig. 4).
As a result of this rotation of the ratchet wheel 3, the first gear is switched on by means of the projection 10, which is connected to the transmission by a linkage not shown in the drawing. The motorcycle is now ready to start. If, in the next sequence, the motorcyclist pulls his foot off the footstep 14, the shift lever 1 swings back into the central position under the spring action of the end 4 of the spring, as shown in FIG. The ratchet 8 remains in the rotated position shown in FIG. Now the switching device for switching a next gear, z. B. the second, ready
