 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Arrangement for switching film drives on and off.
 EMI1.1

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

becomes. With 3 a flywheel is indicated, which is connected to the sound control point. This tape roll is driven in the direction of the arrow. The film is labeled F. Between the take-up spool 2 and the sound roll 2, the film passes two rollers 4 and J. The roller 4 is spatially fixed and rotates around the axis 6. With the axis 6, the roller 5 is rigidly connected via the lever 7, which is can rotate freely on a pin which is connected to the lever 7. Depending on the length of the film loop between the take-up reel 1 and the clay drum 2, the roller 5 can move about the axis 6 of the roller 4. This movement is limited by stops 8 and 9.

With 5 'a second position of the roller 5 is shown, u. zw. Such a position that the role will assume when the film F between the sound control point 2 and the take-up reel 1 is elongated. This rotational movement, which is caused by the film on the axis of the roller 4, is used to operate an electrical switch, preferably a mercury switch.

In Fig. 1 b, another embodiment of the invention is shown. The take-up reel is also designated with 1 and the sound control point with 2 as in FIG. The roller 5 is attached to the lever arm 7, which can be rotated about the axis 6. When the film loop is enlarged, the roller 5 rotates about the axis 6 in the direction of the arrow, u. between the stops 8 and 9. This movement can also be used again to switch a mercury switch or the like.

In order to ensure that when the fihm loop is enlarged, the roller 5 also follows the film, a spring 10 is provided in FIG. 1 b which exerts a force on the lever arm 7 which is opposite to that of the film via the roller 5 force exerted by this lever arm. This spring 10 is not shown in FIG. 1 a, but must also be present there. The spring can readily be replaced by other known means having the same effects; for example by a weight.

In Fig. 2 and 3, a particularly useful design of the switching arrangement according to the invention is drawn. Before the two figures are described, it should be explained briefly what is particularly important in this special construction. If the motor of the take-up reel 1 is switched on (FIG. 1 a), the film F will be shortened and the roller 5 will press the lever 7 against the stop 8. If this triggers an electrical contact in this position to switch on the motor for the drum 2, the length of the film between the drum 2 and the take-up reel 1 would increase again somewhat at the same time that the drum motor is switched on Switch off the engine again.

But since the take-up motor immediately shortens the film loop again, the film switches the motor for the drum 2 on again. So there are pendulum movements that must be prevented in any case. In the particular embodiment as it is to be described, this disadvantage is avoided. In the figures, the same reference numerals are chosen for the same items corresponding to FIGS. 1 a and 1 b. On the shaft 6, the roller 4 is arranged to rotate freely. Firmly wedged to the shaft 6 is a lever arm 7 into which a pin 11 is embedded. The roller 5 rotates freely around this pin.

As seen in FIG. 2, the film F is passed under the roller 5 and drawn away over the roller 4.

Depending on the length of the film loop, the drum 5 moves around the axis 6 and rotates it according to the length of the film. The shaft 6 is held by a stand 12. You can rotate freely in the bearing 13 of this stand. On the other side of the stator, the spring 10 is fixedly connected to the shaft and engages the stator 12 with its other end. This spring tends to rotate the roller 5 against the force exerted on it by the film. With the shaft 6, which is to be referred to as the control shaft in this arrangement, a lever arm 14 is rigidly connected at its outermost end. The mercury switch 15 is held in such a way that it can be rotated around the switching shaft 17 by a lever arm 16. The switching shaft 17 itself is firmly connected to the stator 18.

In order to convert the rotary movements of the control shaft 6 into jerky switching movements of the switching shaft 17, the two levers 14 and 16 are connected via a spring 19. The exact mode of operation of the arrangement according to FIG. 2 can be better explained with reference to FIG. 3. The same reference numerals have been chosen in this drawing as in the preceding drawings.

It is assumed that when the motor is at a standstill, the roller 5 rests against the stop 9 for both the take-up reel and the clay drum. If the motor for the take-up reel 1 is now switched on, the film is shortened and the roll 5 moves in the direction of arrow 22 into position 23. This rotation has caused lever 14 to turn into position 23 '. The lever arm 16, which is rigidly connected to the shaft 17, however, cannot participate in a rotation in this sense because of the stop 20. The spring 19, which connects the two lever arms 14, 16, is thus tensioned. As the rotation of the roller 5 continues to increase in the direction of arrow 22, position 24 is reached. At the same time, the lever 14 reaches the position 24 '. The spring 19 is stretched to the maximum at this moment.

If the lever 14 moves only a little bit out of the position 24 ′, the lever arm 16 is jerked back under the force of the spring 19 in the direction of the arrow 27 shown.

Position 24 moved. Such a movement does not turn off the mercury switch 15. As shown in the drawing, the roller 5 can execute a rotary movement of 70 "without the drum motor being switched off again.

If the drum motor is switched on again for a longer period of time, the take-up motor will slowly move the roll 5 from position 24 to position 25, that is, up to the stop 8. It is of course also possible for an equilibrium to be established between positions 25 and 24 and for the drum to stop somewhere between the two positions indicated. Assuming that suddenly the take-up motor no longer works properly or some other defect occurs during the take-up, the film loop will lengthen. From position 25, roller 5 will slowly move back through position 24 to position 23. Only when this position has been reached will the spring 19 on the lever arm 14, which has in the meantime reached the position 23 ′, throw the lever arm 16 against the stop 20.

As a result, the switching shaft 17 is also thrown around and the drum motor is switched off by the mercury switch 15.

The embodiment of FIG. 4 shows a sound recording camera as an example. It is readily possible to use the invention for other film moving devices as well. It is also possible to use the idea according to the invention in the winding up of tapes, threads, wires and strings of all kinds. The arrangement is further not limited to the use of motors that require two lines for voltage supply, but can be used for any type of electric drive motors, if the necessary number of switching contacts is provided.

It represents 31 the supply reel, 32 the film drive roller, which is driven by the motor 33.

In addition, the motor 33 drives the winding friction 35 of the winding reel 36 via a belt 34. Between the drive roller 32 and the take-up spool 36, the film actuates a roller 37 which is pulled against the film by a tension spring 38. A switching contact 39 is attached to the guide rod of the roller 37 and is located in the motor lead. Parallel to this switching contact there is a switch in the form of a push button 40, 41 represents the main switch. A common switch is advantageously used for 40 and 41, which in the "start-up" position contacts 40 and 41 and in the "on" position only contact 41 closes. The switch is expediently designed so that it does not have a latch in the "start-up" position. A contact 42 is also connected to the guide rod of the roller 37.

The contacts 39 and 42 are expediently designed as mercury interrupter tubes. The magnetic coupling is located between the motor 33 and the conveyor roller 32 and is provided with slip rings 44 for supplying the voltage to the magnetic coil. If the arrangement as shown in the figure is to be switched on, one of the switches is set to "start-up". In this position the contacts 40 and 41 are closed. Thus, the motor 33 receives voltage and starts up. Over the belt 44 winds the take-up reel 36. The film loop tensions and lifts the roller 37 against the force of the spring 38. This closes the contacts 39 and 42. The magnetic coil 43 receives voltage via the contact 42 and switches the magnetic coupling for the drive roller 32.

After the "On" position, contact 40 opens, which has meanwhile been short-circuited via contact 39. If there is a fault in the film run, contacts 39 and 42 are interrupted and the motor comes to a standstill.

If you only want to achieve with this arrangement that the conveyor roller 32 does not continue to transport if the winding on the take-up spool 36 is not working properly, then switching off the motor 33 is not absolutely necessary, but according to the invention it is sufficient to remove the conveyor roller 32 from the Switch off drive 33. This is done by the coupling 43, which is actuated by the contact 42. In this case, the arrangement according to the figure, the contact 39 and the switch 40 can be saved.
