 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Machine for closing bottles with caps, especially tear-off flaps.

The invention relates to such a machine for closing bottles by means of caps, in particular by means of so-called aluminum tear-off caps, in which the caps reach a feeder device from a filling funnel via a feed channel and are fed from this to one of several sealing heads provided on a turret head and consists in that within a period of rotation of the turret head with the closing heads, the feeder device is initially actuated in such a way that the cap located on it comes centrally under one of the closing heads and the closing head lifts the cap, picks it up and returns the feeder device to its original position,

whereas the closing head in front of this, which has already taken up a cap and under which a bottle has meanwhile gotten, closes this bottle with the cap.

The movements of the turret are carried out on the one hand by a toggle lever arrangement operated by the motor via a gearbox, which causes the up and down movement, and on the other hand by a Geneva cross arrangement connected to this gearbox, from which the periodic rotation of the turret head and the bottle transport disc is derived.

In order to prevent a cap from remaining in the sealing head, the result of bottle brews or the inclusion of two caps on the feeder lever and the like. Like. Was not used, in the fastening of the Versehliesskopfes on the turret head mediating hollow shaft an under spring action ejector bolt is installed, which during the rotation of the

 removed from the sealing head.

In the drawings, an example embodiment of a machine according to the invention is shown, u. Between Fig. 1 shows the upper and Fig. 1a the lower part of the machine in vertical section, partly in perspective, Fig. 2 shows a detail of the feeder lever arrangement, Fig. 3 shows the drive of the bottle transport disk, Fig. 4 shows a schematic plan view of the turret head and the bottle transport disk with the work table, FIG. 5 the foot housing with the drive means, FIG. 6 the arrangement of the toggle lever pair in a longitudinal section of the parts, FIG. 7 the same in a horizontal section and FIG. 8 the revolver head with a sealing head in a vertical central section.

According to the work processes, the machine consists of: 1. the loading device for the caps, 2. the feeder device for these, 3. the turret head carrying six capping heads, 4. the device for receiving the caps and for closing the bottles with the caps , 5. from the device for the periodic rotation and up and down movement of the turret head and 6. from the bottle feed disc and its drive parts.

The loading and conveying device for the caps (Fig. 1) comprises a hopper 1, from which the caps, brought into the correct position by suitable devices, pass individually into the conveyor trough 2, at the mouth of which they are guided by a bow-shaped feed lever known to them 3 (Fig. 1 and 2) are held, the cross connection 33 is provided at the front with an arm and a bend 4 and with a small base 5 for receiving a falling cap. The leg 31 of the bracket is bent at an angle and rotatably mounted at 6 on the frame of the machine.

At the end of the shorter arm 32 it has a sliding roller 7 which is pressed by a torsion spring 8 (FIG. 2) against the stepped outer surface 9 of a turret 11 which forms the carrier for six sealing heads M evenly distributed around its axis. This lateral surface 9 is offset downwards and holds the feeder lever with the lower surface in the original position.

The turret 11 (Fig. 1 and 8) is rotatably mounted at 121 on a hollow shaft 12, which is itself displaceably mounted in a housing 13 (Fig. 1a) and in the lower part carries a collar 14, which by means of pins 15151 provided on both sides (Fig. 6), of which the pin 1. 51 is extended into a slot 131 in the wall of the housing 13 and is provided there with a cap 152, preventing the hollow shaft 12 from rotating. In addition, the turret head 11 (FIG. 8) is fastened to a rotatable shaft 16 with a key 17 and a long groove 18 arranged inside the hollow shaft 12, so that it can be rotated with this shaft and displaced on it.

The end of one arm 19 (FIGS. 1 a and 7) of a pair of toggle levers is hinged to the two pins 15, 151 of the collar 14, the other arm 20 of which is hinged to the housing 13 at 201. At the connection point of the two arms, a link 22 is articulated, which is articulated to a crank pin 23 (FIGS. 1 a and 7) of a bevel gear 24.

The turret head 11 carries six sealing heads 10 in a circle, evenly distributed around its axis, which by means of a shank sleeve 26 (FIG. 8) attached to the sealing head cover 25 in a bore of the turret head so that they cannot rotate by an adjusting screw 61 in the groove 62 are slidably attached and are under the action of a helical spring 28.

Within the hollow shaft 26 of each closing head there is a displaceable and springy action

standing ejector rod 29 is provided, which protrudes with the upper end over the shaft: 26 and there with a roller. 30 is provided, whereas the lower end penetrates the sealing head cover 25 and can reach through a bore in the sealing head plates into the cavity 27 of the sealing head intended to receive the cap (FIG. 8).

At the height of the sliding

Above which two feed disks 38, 39 holding the bottle on the neck and body in round recesses: 36,: 37 (Fig. 1 a, 3 and 4) can be rotated, the recesses of which are just as far apart as the individual sealing heads in the revolver head (Fig. 4).

The machine is driven by a motor 40 (Fig. 1 a (, and 5). The rotation of the motor shaft is transmitted by means of the gear 41 to a disengageable spur gear 42 and from this via a bevel gear 43 seated on the same shaft via the bevel gear 44 and the bevel gear 46 seated on the same shaft 45 is transmitted to the bevel crank gear 24 actuating the toggle lever pair (FIG. 1 a,).

On the shaft 45, optionally with the bevel gear 44 in one piece, sits a gear 4 '/, which via the gear 48 transmits the rotary motion to the roller disks 49 (Fig. 1 a) seated on the same axis with this gear a sixth of a turn, a Maltese cross 50, which is wedged on the inner shaft 16 of the turret 11, is set in rotation. From this Maltese cross, the actuation is transmitted through a bevel gear 54 connected to it via the bevel gear pair 52, 53 to the bevel gear 54 and from there via the shaft 55 (Fig. 1a and Fig. 3) to the spur gear 56 (Fig. 3) , which again, through the intermediary of a reversing gear 57 and gear 58, sets the bottle transport disks 36, 39 in periodic rotation.

The mode of operation of the machine is as follows: The motor 40 is started and the hopper 1 is loaded with any caps, in particular tear-off caps. After they have been appropriately directed by devices connected to the funnel 1, the caps fall into the feed channel 2 (FIG. 1) and up to its end mouth, whereupon they are supported on the projection 4 of the feeder bracket 3. This feeder lever is originally in the position shown in FIG. 1 (fully drawn). Its sliding roller 7 rests against the offset casing part 9 of the turret head 11.

In the meantime, when the motor 40 is started, the gear 41 (Fig. 1 a) becomes the spur gear 42, the gear 4-3 sitting on the same shaft, the gear 44 with the shaft 45 and the one sitting on this shaft Gear wheel 46 is set in motion, which drives the crank bevel gear 24. The bevel crank gear 24 acts through the crank pin 2: 1 on a link 22 which, through a hinge pin 21, extends a pair of toggle levers 19, 20.

As a result, since one end 201 of the toggle lever 20 is non-displaceably attached to the housing 1: 3, the end 15 of the other toggle lever 19, which is articulated to the hollow shaft 12, is displaced downward with the latter and, accordingly, the turret 11 connected to the hollow shaft 12 also shifted downwards (Fig. 1 and 1 a drawn in dashed lines).

As a result, the sliding roller 7 reaches the extended circumferential surface of the turret 11, the short arm, over the step. 2 of the feed lever. 3 is pivoted outwards and the longer arm provided with a cap that has fallen on it.) 1 is pivoted inwards in the direction of the sealing head point until it, with the cap, is exactly axially to the sealing-
 EMI2.2
See radial pins 63 or the like. Is received and held. If the wheel 24 is rotated further by 1800, the crank pin 23 causes the toggle lever pair 19, 20 to bend in again, whereby the turret 11 is raised.

During this movement, the role of the disc 49 (Fig. 1 a and 5), which was moved by the gear 47 via 48, reached a Maltese cross incision and, as it rotates further, sets the Maltese cross 50 in rotation, which now the turret 11, with which it goes through its axis 16 (Fig. 1a and 8) is connected, rotated by one sixth of its circumference according to the number of incisions in the Maltese cross, so that the sealing head 10 with the cap located therein moves into the next position. At the same time, the gears 51-58 (Fig. 1 a and 3) connected to the Maltese cross have rotated the bottle transport disks 38, 39 (Fig. 3) by one sixth of the circumference, so that a bottle comes axially under the new position of the capping head .

The pair of toggle levers are now bent again, as a result of which the revolver head 11 is lowered again, causing the bottle to be closed in one of the closing heads and the attached cap being received in the closing head in the previous one.

During the rotation of the turret head 11, each of the six locking heads has an ejector rod 29 and a roller on it. 30 (Fig. 1 and 8), the roller 30 of the ejector rod 29 of that closing head 10, which comes into the cap receiving position, reaches the inclined surface on the way there. 31 and is pressed downwards by it, whereby it ejects a cap remaining in the capping head due to a broken bottle or the like and clears the capping head for receiving a new cap.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

The machine runs continuously. The bottle is placed in any of the free recesses when the disc comes to a standstill. 36 of the disks 38, 39 (Fig. 3 and 4) pushed in by conveyor belt or by hand: everything else is done automatically. Pushing the sealed bottle out of the washer-3? ' on the table takes place in that the bottles reach a guide rail 60 (FIG. 4) which pushes them out of the recess of the disc, whereupon they are pushed away from the peripheral surface of the rotating disc along the inclined surface of the rail.

As usual, the bottles can be fed in and carried on by a conveyor belt that brings the bottle from the filling machine to the closing machine.
