EMI1.1

EMI1.1
The parent patent No. 151277 protects the production of treatment liquors with a high wetting and penetration capacity by using the sulphuration products of the alcohols corresponding to the higher fatty and oleic acids.
It has now been found that the sulfurization products of other, higher molecular weight, aliphatic alcohols with one or more hydroxyl groups can also be used for the same purpose. The derivatives of polyhydric alcohols also have the advantage that they or their alkali, lime and magnesium salts are even more readily soluble than the derivatives of the corresponding monohydric alcohols, which is due to the fact that the polyhydric alcohols are able to absorb more sulfuric acid residues.
As a starting material for the preparation of the sulfurization products, for. B. serve the alcohols, which are obtained from the esters of higher molecular weight oxy acids by reduction. In this way you get a dihydric alcohol. A sulfurization product from such an alcohol is prepared as follows:
Example: 286 leg octadecane diol 1, 12, which in a known manner by reducing
EMI1.2
The crude sulfurization product is neutralized directly with sodium hydroxide solution and the inorganic components (sodium sulphate, sodium chloride) are separated off. The product can be obtained in an anhydrous state by evaporation.
The sulfurization products of the higher aliphatic alcohols are easily water-soluble, strongly wetting and foaming bodies, which can be used alone or in a mixture with other components in the manner and for the purposes indicated in the parent patent.
