Sheet metal cage with a U-shaped cross-section, especially for cylindrical roller bearings
The invention relates to a sheet metal cage
U-shaped cross-section, especially for
Cylindrical roller bearing, which is characterized by the combination of the following known features:
1. Recesses provided on the web side for
Leadership of the roles.

   2. The edge of the web recesses pressed out into a circumferentially closed side wall, on the one hand to stiffen the cage and on the other hand to enlarge the sliding guide surfaces for the rollers.

   3. Mutually pressed-in leg edges in the area between the web recesses to prevent the rollers from falling out.

There are sheet metal cages with an essentially U-shaped cross-section which have recesses in the web for receiving and guiding the rollers and in the leg parts in the area between the web recesses impressions or bent tabs to prevent the rolls from falling out. It is also known in the case of solid cages with a Z-shaped cross section to provide recesses in the web surface, the edge of which is flared all the way around.

The combination of these features proposed according to the invention has the advantage for sheet metal cages with a U-shaped cross-section that a stiffened web part of the cage is formed which prevents deformation or crushing or deformation of the sheet metal cage cross-section profile when the leg edges are pressed in in the area between the web recesses. In the known sheet metal cages with a U-shaped cross-section, which have only punched-out recesses for the rollers in the web part and impressions on the legs between the web recesses to prevent the rolls from falling out of the cage, the disadvantage is that the web or the transition from The web is deformed towards the leg and the impressions do not have a uniform shape, which means that proper guidance of the rollers is no longer guaranteed.

The proposed combination creates the possibility, according to the stiffening achieved in the web, now also thin sheet metal for the production of
To be able to use U-sheet metal cages, which in turn allows a better and more accurate mutual pressing of the leg parts of the cage. The rim of the web recesses serving as a stiffener also creates a larger guide sliding surface for the
Roll. The wall thickness of the thin cage sheet as a sliding surface for the rollers would be too small and would be subject to excessive wear. The cage according to the invention is lightweight and has increased strength properties.

In the drawing, the subject of the invention is shown, for example, u. Fig. 1 shows the cross section through an inboard cylinder roller bearing, the sheet metal cage in the upper
Sectional view in the middle of the roller and in the lower section view between the rollers, Fig. 2 is a side view of a sheet metal cage including embedded rollers, partly in section, Fig. 3 is a view of the sheet metal cage in an extended position, partly from above and partly from seen below. Furthermore, FIG. 4 shows the cross section through an outboard cylinder roller bearing, corresponding to FIGS. 1 and 5, a side view of the corresponding sheet metal cage with embedded rollers, partly in section.

According to FIG. 1, the inboard raceway is designated with 1 and the outer raceway with 2. The sheet metal cage 3 has a U-shaped cross section and the legs are denoted by 3 a and the web with 3 b. The web 3 b of the sheet metal cage 3 is on the board side and has recesses 4 which are pressed out on all sides for the storage of rollers in such a way that guide walls 3 b ′ and 3 b ″ for the end faces 5 a and cylinder surfaces 5 b of the rollers 5 stick out.

After the rollers 5 have been stored in the recesses 4 that are pressed out all the way to form a rim, the outer edges of the legs 3 a are drawn in between the rollers so that these retracted points of the legs, which are labeled 3 a ', prevent the rollers from falling out of the cage prevent. Between the rollers, the sheet-metal cage has the cross-sectional shape of a strongly curved C. The sheet-metal cages produced in this way show that they are pressed out of the web 3 on the board side

 Guide walls 3 b ', 3 b ", which are self-contained, have great rigidity.

According to FIGS. 4 and 5, the outer race 2 is designed as an outboard race. Accordingly, the sheet metal cage 3 has an outer web 36 with inwardly directed legs 3a.
