   Österreichische PATENTSCHRIFT Nr. 17607.

   PAUL THEODOR SIEVERT IN DRESDEN.

Process for the production of hollow glass bodies by pre-pressing a hollow body in
Preforms and finished blowing in finished molds.
 EMI1.1

It is known to first pre-press a smaller hollow body in a preform when producing certain hollow glasses and to blow this out in a finished form into the final shape. The glass distribution often leaves something to be desired, since the compressed air that enters in bursts causes the pre-pressed hollow body to expand suddenly. During the final blow molding process, the glass mass is often distributed irregularly.

Avoiding this is the purpose of the present invention. It is based on the fact that, instead of using compressed air, the pre-pressed hollow body is blown out by means of a moistened lid that is pressed onto the upper edge of the finished mold, in that the heat of the glass converts the moisture in the lid into steam. which forms the pressure medium for blowing out.

The procedure for the approximate shape of the pre-pressed glass bodies is the same as is known for the intermediate bodies, which are formed by a glass rind on one of the glass layers at the edges
 EMI1.2
The new method enables the pre-pressed hollow body to be blown out gradually, not suddenly, into its final shape, insofar as the moist cover is several times shorter
 EMI1.3
while the glass mass in the finished form sinks down by its own weight.

Since the lid is easy to handle, the worker can constantly observe how far the hollow body has progressed in its formation in the finished form and he can influence this by pressing the lid on more or less quickly, firmer or lighter. This results in a much better glass distribution.

Fig. 3 shows the blowing out of a hollow body e in its final shape by means of the moistened lid f. The lid f can be made of wood,
