    Chuck spoon.

The present drill spoon differs from the one in use up to now in that its valve is screwed into the lower part (shoe) and can therefore be removed without having to unscrew the shoe and an intermediate piece from the upper tube.

While previously the shoe had to be connected to the spoon tube by a fairly long and fine thread in order not to weaken the tube wall too much, the present design allows the valve to be screwed into the shoe with a fairly short and coarse thread, so that Unscrewing when cleaning the spoon only takes a very short time.

Fig. 1 shows in section the lower part of the spoon, Fig. 2 shows the top view of Fig. 1.

3 shows a wrench for unscrewing the valve and FIG. 4 shows the drill bit in section.

The valve a is screwed directly into the lower part b and provided with a flap c, which carries a pin d, which prevents the flap from turning and is forced to close again under the pressure of the Hohrschmantos. As soon as the spoon has been filled with drilling mud in the borehole and brought to the surface, a grid-like basket is attached to it by means of a wing screw f, for the purpose of catching the unscrewed valve so that it cannot be lost.
 EMI1.1
the tube m between the bars i passes to the outside and the valve remains in the basket.

The purpose of this arrangement is to be able to easily and quickly remove the earmuff, which is always taken up thickly in deep bores and which would not come out after simply opening the flap c, through the enlarged space by unscrewing the valve a.

     PATENT CLAIMS:
 EMI1.2
is screwed in such that when cleaning the spoon only the valve (without the shoe) needs to be unscrewed.
