  Luftgekühlter Zylinderkopf für Brennkraftmaschinen
 EMI1.1

 EMI1.2

Air-cooled cylinder head for internal combustion engines
 EMI1.1

 EMI1.2

The invention relates to the inlet and outlet valve being arranged in a suspended manner, the shaft axes of which lie in a common plane which runs at least approximately parallel to a plane passing through the cylinder longitudinal axis, a continuous cooling air duct provided with cooling fins extending laterally to the common plane, which is laterally limited on the one hand by the cooling ribs of the gas ducts running outside the cooling air duct and on the other hand by a raised side wall of the cylinder head and covered at the top by the bottom of a trough formed on the top of the cylinder head and receiving the valve control.

. Such cylinder heads are known per se.

For example, a cylinder head has become known in which the cooling fins on the top of the cylinder head are covered by baffles that have a trough which, however, does not serve to accommodate the valve control, but is due to the course of the outer edges of the cooling fin, whereas a valve control is used to accommodate the valve control special housing is provided.

Since the guide plates cannot contribute to the dimensional stiffness of the cylinder head, a plate is attached to the cylinder head, which overlaps with strips on its underside over two opposite, raised walls of the cylinder head and prevents them from deflecting sideways when the cylinder head is subjected to bending at the top and thus ensures the dimensional stability of the cylinder head. The lightweight housing accommodating the valve control is either attached to the plate or cast together with it and provided with a cover.

The disadvantage of this cylinder head design is that special components are used to accommodate the valve control and to achieve the required dimensional rigidity of the cylinder head, which are connected to the cylinder head and with each other, the dimensional rigidity being largely dependent on the careful execution of the connection between the cylinder head and the cylinder head Plate depends. In another cylinder head, the parts of the valve control are accommodated in a recess formed on the top of the cylinder head.

A cylinder head has also become known in which a channel interspersed with horizontal cooling fins is provided between each two adjacent cylinder heads consisting of one piece, but which has a much too small cross-section and a much too small surface of its cooling fins to contribute effectively to the cooling of the cylinder head. In addition, the cooling air flows along the surfaces of the cylinder head connected by this channel, that is, perpendicular to the course of this channel.

According to the invention, the disadvantages and
 EMI1.3
So far, with the cast body of the cylinder head, which is one-piece with the trough, the cross-sections located between the gas ducts are designed in a manner known per se as full-walled heat-conducting cross-sections and that a single cooling air duct is provided that runs parallel to the valve stem plane, which is provided by the gas ducts and pass through the heat-conducting cross-sections upwards, outwardly inclined cooling ribs, whereby the surrounding walls delimiting the trough on all sides are provided with cooling ribs on their outer sides,

which lie in planes perpendicular to the extended cylinder axis.

As a result of the one-piece nature of the cast body of the cylinder head, with the cavity being cast together both with the surrounding walls of the cylinder head and with the cooling ribs penetrating the cooling air duct, an extraordinarily rigid cast body is formed, the dimensional rigidity of which is significantly greater than that of a cylinder head with one on top of it fastened with two strips on their underside over two opposite, raised walls of the cylinder head overlapping plate.

Another advantage is the elimination of the fitting work between plate and
 EMI1.4
the recess for accommodating the valve control, which saves a special housing, as well as the smooth flow of cooling air through the cooling air duct without any

The guide plates to be fastened on the cylinder head and the one-piece construction of the cast body also noticeably reduce the manufacturing costs of the cylinder head.

Further details of the subject matter of the invention are described below with reference to the drawing.

An exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in the drawing. 1 shows a view of the cylinder head against which
 EMI2.1
horizontal, vertical section of the cylinder head along line III-III in Fig. 2, Fig. 4, vertical section of the cylinder head perpendicular to the plane of the valves through the exhaust valve seat, the installation of an injection valve.

The axes of the valve seats 1, 2, which are arranged in the base 3 of the cylinder head, or the shaft axes of the valves are located in two planes that are closely side by side and parallel to a cylinder axial plane or in a plane approximately parallel to a cylinder axial plane. Between the exhaust gas duct 4 and the fresh gas duct 5, heat-conducting cross-sections 6 are provided by pouring them together, the width of which corresponds approximately to the outer width of the exhaust duct 4 and which are cast together on their upper side with a trough-like plate 7.

On the part of the upper side of the cylinder head adjacent to the gas ducts 4, 5, cooling ribs 8, inclined upwards and outwards, are cast on, some of which are cast together with the gas ducts 4, 5.

Another part of the cooling fins 8 is with a
 EMI2.2
Half of the upper edge of the cylinder head is cast on a plate 7 extending over its inner part between the surrounding walls 9, 10, 11, 12, which forms a trough 13 in its center for receiving the valve control and is also cast together with part of the cooling fins 8 . In this way, the cooling fins 8 come to lie within a channel 14 running parallel to the valve stem plane above the part of the upper side of the cylinder head adjacent to the gas guide channels, through which the cooling air is forced to flow, whereby sufficient cooling of the casing channels 4, 5 and the part adjacent to them of the cylinder head in that the combustion chamber or an auxiliary chamber and the injection valve are arranged is achieved.

On the outside of the cylinder head, cooling ribs 15 are arranged in planes perpendicular to the elongated cylinder longitudinal axis, which are flush on the side of the gas ducts 4, 5 up to the heat-conducting cross-sections 6 recessed between them and on the side of the walls of the gas ducts facing the cooling air duct 14 are, reach out. In this way, not only the cooling of the parts of the gas supply ducts 4, 5 otherwise lying in the slipstream, but also that of the web between the valve seats 2, 2 is ensured.

In the embodiment of the cylinder head for an internal combustion engine with direct injection of the fuel into the combustion chamber, the injection valve 16 can in a known manner in a bore 17 of the cylinder head, which is through the
 EMI2.3
it is swept by the air flowing through the cooling air duct 14 and thus sufficient cooling of the injection valve 16 is ensured.
