So zeigt z.

Chemically resistant sintered material
The lack of metallic materials that are resistant to aqueous solutions of mineral acids and especially hydrochloric acid even at elevated temperatures is well known. In addition to the iron-silicon cast alloys, which have proven their worth particularly against oxidizing acids, nickel-molybdenum alloys with chromium and silicon additives have been proposed as hydrochloric acid-resistant alloys. However, only tantalum has proven to be completely stable, but its general usability is severely limited by its high price and processing difficulties. In most cases one is therefore forced to fall back on the resistant oxidic materials such as glass, enamel or ceramics for equipment in which hydrochloric acid is used or is produced.
Graphite, whose pores are sealed with plastics, is also used for temperatures below 1500 C. However, the lack of a mechanically strong, highly conductive and easily machinable material that is completely resistant to hydrochloric acid has hitherto prevented some chemical processes from being carried out on an industrial scale. Molybdenum-silicon alloys, which mainly contain the compound MoSi2, i.e. about 65-70 wt.
It has been found that alloys of molybdenum and silicon with 85-94% by weight of molybdenum and 1-6% by weight of silicon, which therefore contain no mati as a structural component, but consist essentially of the Mo Si compound, have excellent resistance to exhibit attack by aqueous hydrochloric acid of all concentrations and also against aqueous solutions of other mineral acids, even at elevated temperatures.
So shows z. B. an alloy of the composition 91 wt. -0/0 molybdenum and 9 wt. -0/0 silicon a weight decrease. of less than 0.1 g / m / day, this would correspond to an approximate consumption of 0.005 mm per year when cooking in concentrated hydrochloric acid.
The molybdenum-silicon alloys according to the invention have very high melting temperatures, which are around 20,000C. A production of shaped pieces is therefore only possible in a powder-metallurgical way. These alloys show surprisingly good pressing and sintering behavior and it is relatively easy to obtain dense sintered pieces. The alloys can be easily thermoformed. The powders can also be shaped in a known manner with plasticizers containing SiO2

limits remains. Combined metal / non-metal materials can be produced in the same way by pressing additives such as oxides (eg mullite) or nitrides (eg titanium nitride) with the alloy powders. The strength of these combined materials is surprisingly good.
As an example of a very dense combined material of this type, the following composition can be given:
EMI1.2
Molybdenum-silicon alloy metallurgical route, e.g. B. by pressing a powder mixture of the molybdenum-silicon alloy and the borosilicate glass frit.

For the application of the materials according to the invention, areas of work are recommended in which the high chemical resistance with good thermal and electrical conductivity and mechanical strength can be used, for example for capacitors in the context of HCl production, in the production of tungstic acid from scheelite concentrated hot hydrochloric acid, in organic chlorinations, etc. In general, the materials according to the invention open up new, previously unused possibilities in the field of hydrochloric acid digestion of ores.
