 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Drive consisting of radially arranged cylinders rotating around a common axis, which are filled with a working medium which acts on the cylinder pistons and generates a torque in the event of temperature differences
The invention relates to a drive consisting of radially arranged cylinders revolving around a common axis, which are filled with a working medium that generates a torque when there are temperature differences by acting on the working pistons, and consists in the fact that the two separate containers of different temperatures passed through Cylinders are carried by a disk provided with a ring gear, which rotates on a fixed axis. which axis carries an eccentric against which the piston rods are supported with the interposition of a roller bearing.

Furthermore, it is proposed according to the invention that a receiving space for the working medium is connected to the outer end of each cylinder, the closure of which is adjustable, e.g. B. screwable, is to change the volume.

A further embodiment of the invention consists in the fact that the receiving spaces for the working medium are designed like sectors.

It is also proposed according to the invention that the action of the piston rods on the roller bearing of the eccentric takes place at an angle which lies between the tangential and radial directions. Finally, it is also proposed according to the invention that the support arm holding the axle is surrounded by a triangular frame, seen in cross section, the rods of which are arranged in the hypotenuse and serve to hold a cooling container located below and a heat absorbing container located above.

The drive according to the invention is characterized by great simplicity and cheapness both in its manufacture and in operation and can be used, for example, to drive irrigation systems, with the sun heating the heat-absorbing container, which happens to a large extent when the ground carries a parabolic mirror. The water to be sprayed, for example, then serves as the coolant. However, exhaust gases from engines or exhaust fumes can also be used to heat the heat absorption container.

In the drawing, the essence of the invention is exemplified and illustrated schematically, u. FIG. 1 shows a cross section and FIG. 2 shows a view of the drive actuated by temperature differences, FIG. 3 shows a view of the entire assembly partially in section and FIG. 4 shows a top view in the direction of the arrow in FIG. 3.

A shaft 2 with a firmly wedged eccentric 3 is held by a support arm 1. A ball bearing mounted rotatable sits on the axle. Disk 4 having radial bores 5 and a ball-bearing ring 6 on the eccentric 3. In the bores 5 of the disk, cylinders 8 are inserted, on the outer ends of which there is a receiving space 9 for the working medium. For this purpose, one is preferably used with a high coefficient of expansion, such as. B. mercury, ammonia, alcohol, etc. The inner ends of the expansion elements close off pistons 10, which act on the ring 6 in the event of temperature differences. The pistons are expediently arranged at a certain angle to the ring, which lies between the tangential and radial directions, in order to increase the torque.

The outer ends of the expansion elements carry an adjustable closure 11, for example a screw, to thereby also e.g. B. to change their volume.

The support arm 1 is surrounded by a triangular frame 12, seen in cross section, the rods 13 of which, arranged in the hypotenuse, serve to hold a cooling container 14 located below and a heat absorbing container 15 located above. The expansion elements 8 carried by the disk 4 move above the rods 13 and the like. between parallel to these, alternating the
Go through the cooling container 14 or the heat absorption container 15.

A ring gear 16 is seated on the disk 4 and cooperates with a bevel gear 18 via a pinion 17. From this the drive is passed on via a shaft 19 with disk 20 to the desired point.

The drive according to the invention works by alternately causing expansion and contraction in the expansion elements, which act on the piston and thus on the ring. It does not matter in which temperature range the difference between the heating and cooling medium of the container 14, 15 lies. Of course, the desired drive torque increases with the size of the difference in temperatures.

The number of expansion elements 8 can be arbitrary, depending on which performance is desired. It also goes without saying that the latter is also dependent on the length of the expansion elements.

The drive according to the invention can be used, for example, to operate irrigation systems, with the sun heating the heat absorbing container 15, which is particularly important when the subsurface carries a parabolic mirror 21. However, exhaust gases from engines or fumes can also be used to heat the heat absorbing container 15.
