Electric motor for small refrigeration machines
The invention relates to a squirrel-cage electric motor for single-phase alternating current, which can be used for two power levels, to drive in particular two small refrigeration machines of different sizes which have a constantly open throttle device in the refrigeration circuit, with a relay and an auxiliary winding serving as a starting resistor. Small refrigeration machines with a constantly open throttle device in the refrigerant circuit require only a low torque when starting up after pressure equalization between the high and low pressure sides, which occurs after a few minutes of downtime in small household refrigeration machines.
A small starting resistance for the motor is therefore sufficient to start the compressor of the refrigeration machine by the drive electric motor.
Known electric motors of this type can only use the auxiliary winding during start-up. Such an auxiliary winding, usually made of tombac wire, has such a large resistance that it would interfere with operation and the auxiliary winding must therefore be switched off during operation. In addition, the known electric motors can only be used for an output that is limited within a narrow range. Other known single-phase motors, which also use a capacitor for starting, require a relatively large starting capacitor, which is expensive and takes up a lot of space.
The invention avoids the aforementioned disadvantages and simplifies the circuit in that the starting resistor does not need to be switched off during operation. The invention consists in the fact that the auxiliary winding made of copper wire is not only used for start-up due to its low resistance, but also remains switched on during operation and a capacitor that can be switched on only during operation is provided for the larger power level to increase the power only during operation the relay switched on during the start-up process is initially bridged.
Circuit diagrams are shown in the drawing. 1 shows a circuit diagram of an electric motor for driving a cooling machine with a theoretical delivery rate of around 475 dm3jh; FIG. 2 shows a circuit diagram of an electric motor for driving a cooling machine with a theoretical delivery rate of approximately 660 dm3jh: FIG. 3 shows a circuit diagram of an electric motor according to FIG. 2 with a damping resistor.
In the circuit diagrams, 1 denotes the circuit of the electric motor and 2 denotes the circuit of the associated starting relay. The motor, which is supplied with single-phase alternating current at terminals 3 and 4, has a squirrel-cage rotor 5, a main stator winding 6 and an auxiliary winding 7, which is required for starting and is also used during operation. The auxiliary winding is made of copper because during operation it may only have a resistance of insignificant, non-disturbing magnitude. On the other hand, this resistance must be large enough so that the motor can overcome the starting torque. Tombak windings used earlier could not bring the desired success because their resistance during operation was too great.
The relay consists of the relay coil 8 with the armature 9 as well as the contacts 10 and 11 and the contact bridge 12.
The motor with the parts and the circuit according to Fig. 1 intended to drive a cooling machine with a theoretical delivery capacity of around 475 dm3jh can also be used to drive a somewhat larger cooling machine up to around 660 dm3jh without changing the parts mentioned, by simply using the parts shown in FIG a capacitor 13 is switched on. However, the assignments of this capacitor must not be applied directly to contacts 10 and 11 because the magnetic relay flutters slightly during the start-up process and strong sparks are generated at the contact points due to discharges of the capacitor.

would hen.
The capacitor 13 which brings about the increase in output is therefore applied between the end points of the two motor windings 6 and 7 at the two connection points 14 and 15. Only one assignment of the capacitor is directly on contact 11.
Under certain circumstances, this circuit can have disadvantages of an oscillating circuit. If the resonance frequency of such a resonant circuit is disturbing in practical switching operation, e.g. B. makes noticeable through increased flutter, stronger contact wear or radio interference, this resonant circuit is appropriately damped by installing an additional resistor in the starter relay. 3 shows an additional resistor 16 of this type and its circuit, in which the occupancy applied in the vicinity of a contact point of the relay is no longer directly applied to contact 11.
