 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Fig. 1 und 3).

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Fig. 2).

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

  Device for automatic zeroing of counters
The invention relates to a device for the automatic zeroing of counters for gas stations or the like with a return spring which is tensioned via the drive shaft of the counter.

   Counters of various types are already known in which spring energy stores are tensioned during the counting process and the energy stored in the energy store is reset by triggering certain locks at the end of the counting process. With these counters, however, no precautions have been taken to ensure that the lift of the spring energy store is automatically interrupted after a certain number of lift revolutions, so that the load on the counter drive is extended over the entire counting process. There is no device provided with these counters that automatically regulates the winding of the spring accumulator to a predetermined level, regardless of whether more or fewer revolutions are carried out by the counter itself during the counting process.

   Zeroing devices are also known specifically for counters that are used in fuel pumps or the like. One of these known arrangements provides, for example, that a spring is tensioned by hand before each zero position or before each dispensing process, which spring is then moved into the zero position after actuation of a second lever or button. However, this device is rather cumbersome to operate, so that there can be no question of an automatic zero setting device.

   The present invention is based on the object of creating an automatic zero position in which a clutch is provided in the elevator gear which interrupts the drive as soon as the return spring is fully wound up again and in which the following conditions should be met:
1. The zeroing process should be triggered by removing the nozzle.

   2. The spring accumulator should be tensioned by the counter at the beginning of the counting process and then disconnected from the drive by automatic coupling means when a predetermined tension of the spring is reached. The coupling means must work in such a way that, if the spring has not been fully tensioned during a dispensing process because the dispensing process had already been completed, it will only disengage the next time the previously missing amount has been made up.

   3. The prescribed minimum delivery amount, which corresponds to two or four revolutions of the main drive shaft of the meter depending on the type of liquid meter, must be sufficient to re-tension the spring accumulator by the amount by which it expired during the zeroing process.

   4. The spring accumulator must be designed in such a way that, when it is fully tensioned, it has a power reserve sufficient for at least two complete zeroing operations.
 EMI1.1
    Initiate zeroing device, and vice versa, a new tapping process may only be possible if the counter has been reset.

   These conditions are met by the device according to the invention and are characteristics of its mode of operation.

   The particular advantages of this invention are that the counters that are equipped with this automatic zero setting device can be installed in the fuel pump just as easily

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 like the counters with manual operation, without the need for additional auxiliary equipment in the fuel pump itself.

   In order to prevent the counter from failing in the event of improper use, a manual zero setting is also possible in addition to the facility for automatic zeroing.

   The invention will now be described in an exemplary embodiment with reference to the drawings.

     1 is a cross-section through the entire device, FIG. 2 shows a view of some parts of the zero-setting device, FIG. 3 shows a further detail of the zero-setting device, FIGS. 4, 5, 6 and 7 show a coupling of the zero-setting device in FIG various views and positions and FIG. 8 shows a
Locking device.

   As can be seen from FIG. 1, the shaft 1 is driven by the drive shaft of the counter via a bevel gear 2. The shaft 1 drives a clutch 7 via a back gear consisting of the wheels 3, 4, 5 and 6. The clutch 7 will be described in more detail below. Its purpose is to couple the drive shaft 1 with the winding element of a spring 11 only for such a period of time as is necessary to fully wind it up. The output member of the clutch 7 is connected via a bush 8 to a gear 9 which drives a gear 10. The
Gear 10 is connected to the barrel and one end of the spring 11. A one-way coupling in
The form of a roller locking mechanism 12 is connected to the gear wheel 9 and prevents the spring 11 from relaxing. The spring 11 is fastened with its other end to the spring core 13.

   Connected to the spring core 13 is a gear wheel 14 which meshes with a further gear wheel 15. The gear 15 is rotatably mounted on a shaft 16 and connected to a locking disk 17 via a bush 18. The
Locking disk 17 (see FIG. 2) is provided with a radial recess 19 on its outer circumference. The connecting piece 20 of a bracket 21 engages in this recess. A locking lever 22 is mounted on a stationary pin 23 and engages with its nose in front of the bracket 20, 21 and holds this bracket taut.

  The locking lever 22 is designed as a bracket and has a connecting tab 24 on which a lever 25 engages with its nose. The lever 25 is resiliently connected to a toggle lever 26, which by the
Unhooking the dispensing tube of the gas station is pressed and thus also lifts the lever 25 and the locking lever 22 so that the locking bracket 21, the locking disc 17 and the wheels 15 and 14 are released for movement. Also connected to the spring core 13 of the spring 11 is a ratchet wheel 27 (see FIGS. 1 and 3). This ratchet wheel cooperates with a pawl 28 which is rotatably mounted on a lever arm 30 fastened on the socket 29. The pawl 28 is kept constantly in engagement with the ratchet wheel 27 by a spring and also has a stop pin 28 '. The bushing 29 is pinned to the shaft 31.

   The shaft 31 is the actual zeroing shaft. To reset the counter it is necessary that this shaft is first turned by 4100 clockwise (see arrow in Fig. 3) and then backward by 500.

   In order to control this movement of the shaft, the following device is also provided: A disk 32, which has a slot 33, is also attached to the bushing 29. By means of this slot 33, the disk works together with a further control disk 34 on which a stop pin 35 is attached; The disk 34 is fastened together with a stop lug 36 on a bush 37. The bush 37 is firmly connected to the shaft 16. When the shaft 16 is in a corresponding position, the stop lug 36 is in the path of the pin 28 ′ of the pawl 28. A spring 38 acts on the disk 37 in the sense that it always moves the entire device shown in FIG. 3 into the one shown there Seeking location to pull.

   To describe the function of the arrangement, it is initially assumed that a dispensing process has ended, that the display rollers of the counter have run to a certain amount and a certain volume and that the device has been stopped in this position. During the last dispensing process, the spring 11 was fully opened. If a new dispensing process is to be initiated, the zero setting must first be carried out for this purpose. This happens automatically as soon as the operator takes the tap from his fork. As already briefly described above, the lever 26 is swung out counterclockwise through this fork. As a result, the lever 25 lifts the locking lever 22, so that the locking disc 17 and the locking bracket 21 are released.

   The spring can now make the zero position by driving the shaft 31 clockwise via the ratchet wheel 27 and the pawl 28. Hiebei is first of all entrained by the disk 32 via the pin 35 and the disk 34 by a certain angular path, u. zw. Until the pin 35 emerges from the slot 33 of the disk 32 and now remains on the circumference of this disk during the further rotation of the disk 32. This movement of the disk 34 also brings the stop 36 into an approximately vertical position. After rotating the disk 32 by approximately 4100, the pin 35 can again fall into the slot 33 of the disk 32 and the spring 38 becomes the entire arrangement around the 3600

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

   Retract the exceeding angle of rotation to the starting position shown in FIG. 3.

   In order to allow this reverse rotation of the disk 32, the moment the pin 35 falls into the slot 33, the stop 36 engages the stop pin 28 ′ of the pawl 28 and pivots this pawl so that the drive connection between the spring 11 and the shaft 31 is temporarily canceled. At the same time, the locking disk 17 has also been stopped again, since the lever 25 is only lifted briefly by the lever 26 and immediately returns to its starting position, so that the lever 22, pulled by the spring 39, returns to the position shown in FIG. 2 position shown returns, in which he can block the disc 17 on the bracket 20,21. After the zeroing process has ended, the actual tapping process begins, in which the counter is driven by the flow meter.

   From the drive shaft of the counter, the drive movement is now derived that is required for re-tensioning the spring 11, u. This happens because the bevel gear 2 drives the gear 10, which is connected to the outer end of the spring 11, via the shaft 1, the countershaft 3, 4, 5, 6, the clutch 7 and the gear 9. The clutch 7 is designed in such a way that it normally acts as a single-turn clutch, that is to say when the spring was fully opened during the previous winding process. The spring will always be fully wound up when the minimum delivery amount of 2 liters of fuel prescribed for the petrol stations has been observed, since the transmission ratio between the drive shaft of the meter and the gearwheel 10 is designed for this elevator path.

   However, to prevent the spring from breaking when large amounts of fuel are dispensed, a clutch must be engaged. This is the coupling 7, which, however, also has another purpose. It can namely happen that the gas station attendant has also dispensed less than the prescribed minimum dispensing amount, for example 1.5 1 instead of 2 1. In this case, the spring 11 would not have been fully re-tensioned during this short dispensing process. The clutch 7 should now have the effect that the spring 11 is fully re-tensioned again during the next dispensing process, provided that at least 2.5 l are dispensed.

  For this purpose, the coupling 7 is designed as follows (see Fig. 1, 2 and 4-7): A ratchet wheel 40 is connected to the gear wheel 6. On both sides of this ratchet wheel 40 there are two clutch disks 41 and 42 screwed together. The clutch disk 42 is connected to the gear wheel 9 via the socket 8. The clutch disk 41 has a somewhat larger diameter than the clutch disk 42. The clutch disk 42 carries the clutch pawl 44 on a pin 43, which works together with the ratchet wheel 40 by means of its tooth 45. A spring 46 seeks to keep the pawl 44 in engagement with the ratchet wheel 40 at all times. The clutch disk 41 has a radial recess 47, the clutch disk 42 has a radial recess 48. The clutch pawl 44 also has a stop lug 49 which protrudes into the recess 48.

   The clutch is now controlled by a lever 50 in the form of a bow (see in particular FIGS. 6 and 7).

  The lever 50 is connected to the locking lever 22 via a slot and elongated hole connection by means of a lever 51 (see FIG. 2). Due to the pin and slot connection with the lever 51, the lever 50 can be moved both in the vertical direction (FIG. 2) and to a certain extent laterally, since it is attached to a pin 53 by means of a further slot 52. The longitudinal displaceability of the lever 50 is only about 3 mm. A spring 54 keeps the lever 50 constantly in contact with the clutch disks 41 and 42. For this purpose, the lever 50 also has an angled tab 55 with an inclined contact surface 56 (FIGS. 6 and 7).

  The clutch described now works as follows: It is initially assumed that a dispensing process has ended and that the spring 11 is fully tensioned. In this position, the lever 50 is by means of its tab 55 in such a position that it only rests on the clutch disc 42, u. between its recess 48 in such a way that the pawl 44 is lifted out of the ratchet wheel 40 against the action of its spring 46. If a new dispensing process is to be started, the device must first be set to zero. For this purpose, as already described above, the locking lever 22 is triggered. This locking lever 22 thus also moves the connecting lever 51 and lifts the lever 50. This is shifted somewhat laterally by the spring 54, so that it now rests on the outermost circumference of the clutch disk 41. This position is shown in FIG. 5.

   The arrangement remains in this position during the actual zeroing process.

  When the dispensing process begins, the shaft 1 also begins to rotate and takes the ratchet wheel 40 with it and, via the coupling pawl 44, the coupling disks 41 and 42. The lever 50 can now fall into the recess 47 of the disk 41 and run from now on on the outer circumference of the clutch disk 42. At the moment when the clutch has reached the position according to FIG. 2, the lever 50 slips from the outer circumference of the disk 42 onto the recess 48 of the disk 42 and comes with it engages the stop 49 of the pawl 44 and lifts it out of engagement with the ratchet wheel 40.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

The spring 11 is fully re-tensioned at this moment, so that the shaft 1 now continues to run empty and only causes re-tensioning of the spring 11 during the next dispensing process.

   If the minimum dispensing quantity of 21 has not been complied with before the dispensing process has ended, the coupling remains in a position roughly according to FIG. The clutch 7 remains engaged. When the new zeroing process is initiated, the lever 50 with its tab 55 is again raised onto the larger clutch disc 41. During this dispensing process, the coupling 7 now runs past the tab 55 in the coupled state, since the rear stop 49 does not come into contact with the tab 55 of the lever 50 because of its position on the disk 41. So it will be with this one
Circulation of the clutch not yet disengaged.

   After the coupling 7 has completed the revolution that was not completed in the previous dispensing process and has carried out a further additional revolution, the coupling 7 is, as previously described, by the lever 50 falling into the recess 48 of
Disc 42 and lifting the pawl released.

   Improper operation, for example by lifting out the dispensing hose and re-attaching the dispensing hose without the dispenser having been put into operation, can cause the
To bring about zero position and to let the energy storage run without it being re-tensioned.
For this purpose, a coupling piece 57 with a slot 58 is attached to the shaft 31, into which a hand crank can be inserted, by means of which the zero position can then be brought about instead of the spring 11.

   Since the counter can be reset both manually and automatically, it is necessary to provide certain locks in order to prevent the dispensing process from starting before the zero position has ended, and to prevent a zero position during the current dispensing process. A locking device according to FIG. 8 is provided for this purpose. An additional ratchet wheel 59 is arranged on the shaft 31, the actual zero setting shaft. Also mounted on the shaft 31 is a locking lever 60, which has an elongated hole 61 at one end and is pulled around in a clockwise direction by a spring 62. A pin 63 engages in the elongated hole 61 on a two-armed lever 64 which is rotatably mounted at 65 and is stationary.

   The two-armed lever 64 is a rocking lever which is released for pivoting counterclockwise by lifting the end piece of the dispensing hose 66.

  A lever 67, which in turn is articulated to a lever 68, is also connected in an articulated manner to the lever 64. This lever 68 closes the switch 69 of the pump motor when it is pivoted counterclockwise. At the right end of the locking lever 60, a pin 70 is attached which interacts with a latch 71 and the locking lever 75. The locking lever is intended to prevent the zero position by falling into the locking wheel 59. The locking pawl 71 is mounted on a post 72 and has a stop tab 73 and a pin 74. By means of the pin 74, the pawl 71 works together with a further pawl 76 which is rotatably mounted on a lever 77. The pawl 76 has an angled tab 78, by means of which it is held in contact with the lever 77 by a spring 79.

   The pawl 76 is therefore only rotatable in a clockwise direction. The lever 77 is attached to the control shaft 16. This control shaft 16, like the control disk arrangement 34, 36, carries out a movement of 500, initially counterclockwise and then backwards in clockwise direction, again by 500, with each zeroing operation. If the mouthpiece 66 of the dispensing hose is now lifted from the lever 64, this initially has no effect on the lever 64. This is only released for a counterclockwise movement. During the zeroing process, the shaft 16 initially moves counterclockwise by 500. The pawl 76 slides over the pin 74 into the position shown in FIG. 8 without exerting any influence on the pawl 71.

   When the shaft 16 rotates back, however, the stop surface 76a presses against the pin 74 and thus pivots the pawl 71 counterclockwise about its bearing point 72. The lever 60 is thereby released and is rotated clockwise by its spring 62. As a result, the lever 67 and the lever 68 are also pivoted and the pump motor is switched on. On the other hand, by pivoting the lever 60, the pawl 75 is also pivoted so that it comes into engagement with the ratchet 59. The zero setting device is now blocked. At the end of the dispensing process, the mouthpiece 66 is suspended again and the lever 64 is thus returned to the position shown. The lever 60 is also taken along and locks itself into place with the pawl 71 by means of its pin 70.

   The pawl 75 is also moved back into the position shown in FIG. 8 by the pin 70.

   The clutch 7 is shown in the drawings with two clutch disks 41 and 42. By adding a further additional clutch disc, which is even larger than the clutch disc 41, it can be achieved that the clutch 7 works as a two-turn clutch, so to speak. H. so that the drive is only switched off after two full revolutions of the clutch. With such an arrangement, the reduction gear can be saved.

 EMI5.1

   If all or almost all of the number rollers are in position 9 before the zero setting, the zero setting drive runs empty during almost the entire rotation of the zero setting shaft. In order to prevent excessive acceleration of the zeroing shaft during this idling, it should be advisable to install an inhibiting or centrifugal force regulator in the drive, which regulates the course of the zeroing process to a certain speed.
