 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Device for displaying the extent of deposits on the bottom of a liquid container
The invention relates to the configuration of a device for displaying the extent of deposits at the bottom of a liquid container, for. B. a settling basin and consists essentially in it.
 EMI1.1
which at the lower end of the same, at a small distance on the pool floor flows and that at the upper end a device that z. B. of the immersed in the liquid at the top of the dip tube
Float can be controlled, is arranged, which indicates the level changes of the FliWigkeitupie- gels in the dip tube as a measure of the increase in the deposits on the container bottom, which throttles the outflow of the auxiliary liquid.

According to a further feature of the invention is the pipe which the auxiliary liquid into the
Immersion pipe introduces, connected to the sewer feeding the sedimentation basin. Furthermore controls according to the
Invention the element reacting to level fluctuations in the dip tube, e.g. B. the swimmer, a
Device for draining the deposited material.

The drawings show in FIGS. 1-4 different embodiments of the invention
1 shows a display device according to the invention in vertical section, FIG. 2 also shows a second embodiment in vertical section, FIG. 3 shows, on a larger scale, a detail of FIG. 2 and FIG Execution according to Fig. 2.

The basin 10 contains water that is loaded with impurities whose density is greater than that of the water. According to the flow conditions that prevail in the basin, the impurities settle at 11 at the bottom of the basin.

A vertical tube 12, open at both ends, dips into the basin and is fixed at a certain height. The water level has the same height inside and outside the pipe 12.

A certain amount of water is fed through the pipe 13 to the pipe 12 at a low speed, which is in the order of magnitude of a few decimeters per second.

As long as the impurities have not yet reached the lower end of the pipe 12, the heights of the water level inside and outside the pipe 12 are hardly different from one another. If the level of the contaminants increases, they will eventually reach the lower opening of the tube 12 and continue to rise. The outflow from the pipe 12 is thus hindered and the water level in the pipe 12 begins to rise.

The rise in the level in the pipe 12 is measured, for example, by means of a float 14 in order to obtain information about the condition of the deposits in the basin. This flood meter can operate an electrical switch that transmits the remote indication that a certain level increase has occurred because the deposits have reached a certain height.

In the arrangement according to FIG. 2, the auxiliary water quantity q is taken with the aid of a line 17 at the mouth of the channel 18, where the level is constantly higher than the level in the settling basin 19.

This auxiliary water quantity q is fed to the device 20 for displaying the extent of the deposits.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

The float 21, which measures the rise in the level in the display device 20, controls
Valve in a channel which is parallel to a siphon (siphon pipe) 25, as can be seen in FIG. 3, and is used to start it up; the siphon pipe is connected to the settling basin 19, for example.

In this case, a cable 22 causes the opening of the channel 26 for putting the siphon pipe into operation. The
The siphon pipe then fills the shaft 27 of a float 28 which, according to FIG. 2, is connected to an overcompensated float 29 in unstable equilibrium. The filling of this shaft 27 as a result of the deposits detected by the device 20 leads to the opening of the slide 29, which causes the ballast removal (the bottom drain) of the settling basin 19.

The difference between the level inside the display device and that outside the same can also be used to automatically trigger the bottom outlet. Such a device is shown in FIG. 4. The float of the display device 20 acts on a cable 22a, one end of which is attached to a fixed point and is connected to a float 24 which is at the level of the water in the settling basin 19, so that the free end of the cable 22a can only move in one direction or the other if there is a difference in level between the two floats 21 and 24.
