  Relais.

  Relay.

The subject of the present invention is the construction of a polarized relay which responds to direct current pulses of relatively longer duration and specific direction, but at the same time is insensitive to alternating current of the usual number of periods. The relay consists of an ordinary polarized relay that has not one but two windings (differential relay). One of these b is connected to the line L LI, while the second c is related to the secondary winding e of a small transformer. The primary winding of the latter d is connected to the line line either in parallel as FIG. A, or in series, as FIG. B shows.

An additional resistor is built into the secondary circuit of the transformer, which can possibly also be designed as an inductive resistor. The total resistance of the entire secondary circuit and its self-induction are balanced in such a way that when the line is supplied with alternating current, the current in the secondary circuit lags exactly 1800 in phase behind the current in the relay winding b. In order to be able to fully regulate this phase shift in the finished device, the transformer is constructed in such a way that the scatter can be changed by changing two air gaps that are switched on in the magnetic flux of the transformer.

If the number of turns of the two relay windings b and c is reversed to the currents flowing in them, the fields generated by them cancel each other out, and the alternating current will therefore have no effect on the relay tongue z. If, on the other hand, a direct current is sent into the line from a suitable direction, the inductive effect of the transformer is eliminated, the entire secondary circuit is de-energized and winding b alone has an effect. The tongue is attracted and the local circuit is opened or. closed.

For the period in which the direct current increases to its full strength in the event of a current connection and decreases to zero when the current is interrupted, the relay behaves in the same way as above for alternating current.
