Hydraulic reversing valve for regenerative firing.

The invention relates to the control of the gases in regenerative gas firing systems and relates in particular to a valve device in which the valve closure is effected by rising and falling columns of water. Let the falling and rising of these water columns be! be controlled according to the invention by supplying or releasing compressed air.

In the drawing, four valves 1, II, 111 and IV are shown, of which the two outer I and IV can connect the furnace with the gas supply line G, the two inner II and 111 the furnace with the chimney. Each valve consists of a housing A, in which a pipe I? rises, which is covered by a hood H. The lower part of the housing is filled with water which closes the passage between the hood and the pipe R as soon as the outer housing chamber, which is formed by the pipe R 'immersed in the water, is pressurized to a given height.

The pressure in the outer housing chambers is established by means of the pipelines L, which are routed to a control device St, where they can be connected to a compressed air tank D or to the outside air with the aid of a lever P as required.

The process of reversing the gas flow is as follows: In the position shown in the drawing, valve IV is open; it thus allows the heating gases from line G to enter the furnace. The valve 11 on the other side of the stove is also open and since it is connected to the line N to the chimney, the exhaust gases follow the chimney draft and flow out of the stove through the valve 11 and line N into the chimney. The outer chambers of the housings 1 and III are under pressure during this time, so that the left side of the furnace is blocked from the gas line G and the right side from the exhaust line N.

If the direction is now to be reversed, the lever P is moved downwards, as a result of which the air exhaust lines leading to the valves 11 and IV are initially pressurized. As a result, the valves 11 and IV are also blocked from the lines G and N. Only now, by further turning the lever P, the air lines leading to valves I and III are shut off by the compressed air drill and brought into contact with the outside air, so that the water falls into these two valves, so that now the left side of the stove with the Gas pipe G and the right one with the chimney b'itllug in connection.
