Description

  Lichtstarkes Vario-Objektiv

  Powerful varifocal lens
The invention relates to a high-speed lens with variable focal length of the type in which a basic lens, which is made up of four airspace-separated elements and which faces the image plane, is provided with a vario part, also consisting of four elements, of which the one facing the longer beam distance (= object side) and the one facing the basic lens Member have positive refractive power and are stationary (regardless of an axial adjustment of the object-side member for the purpose of distance adjustment), while the two negative members arranged between these can be adjusted against each other for the purpose of changing the focal length in the direction of the optical axis.

The use of two sliding negative links compared to the well-known systems with only one sliding negative link in a vario part of only three links, in which one of the positive links is additionally shifted to compensate for the back focal length, results in the advantage that the strong refractive power of one on two links can be distributed, which also gives them more favorable dimensions in terms of manufacturing technology.

Such varifocal lenses are available with a relative aperture of about 1: 2, 8 and above and a vario
 EMI1.1
tion area, however, with a greater amount of lenses and lens elements, which make such a system very expensive and unfavorably expand the external dimensions.

The aim of the invention is not only to expand the focal ratio to 1: 1.8 with a minimum of lenses or lens elements and to achieve a range of variation for the focal length of at least 1: 4, but at the same time to obtain optimum performance over the entire range of variation , but especially for the smallest part of the focal length (= wide-angle range). These requirements could be met while maintaining a low overall height for the Vario part according to the invention, in particular by distributing the refractive powers within the individual system elements in such a way that the absolute value of the focal length of the second element is less than twice the numerical value of the focal length of the basic lens.

To achieve a particularly favorable chromatic correction over the entire vario range, the invention furthermore consists in such a bending of the lens surface in the two object-side members of the vario part that the quotient of the kit radius in the diffusion member downstream of the front member by the outer radius downstream of it in the same system member is smaller than 2.5, and that the quotient of the kit radius in the positive anterior segment due to the outer radius facing the long beam width is smaller than I. 5.

In order to obtain a small overall height for the basic objective as well, the invention finally consists in that the air gap between the two image-side lenses or elements in the basic objective is less than 5010 of the center thickness of the negative part of these two system elements. The negative lens, which is relatively thick as a result of this design requirement, provides a favorable course for spherical and comatic aberration.

It should also be mentioned that an overall system with the construction conditions according to the invention makes it possible to create enough space between the variable part and the base object that the diaphragm can be accommodated with a reflective prism for reflex seekers in front of it, so that with

systems can experience changes without departing from the scope of the invention. For example, additional cemented surfaces can be inserted into one or the other link for correction purposes or - for reasons of more economical production - existing cemented surfaces can be removed. Splitting up one or the other cemented link can also be advantageous.
