 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

  Circuit arrangement for telephone systems with direct current push-button selection
The invention relates to a circuit arrangement for telephone systems with direct current push-button dialing with several query steps for evaluating the code characters sent.

   Various circuit arrangements are known for direct current push-button selection which use both currents and several resistance levels in both current directions to form the code characters. The introduction of the code character is indicated in the first query direction by a change in resistance. The initial state for each code character is the loop closure (00 or the low
 EMI1.1
 An interruption in both directions is still identical to the release of the connection.

   Since the length of the subscriber connection lines and thus their DC resistance is very different and discharges of different sizes to earth can occur, the evaluation device in the office cannot always accurately identify the resistance that is switched into the signal circuit under the most unfavorable operating conditions. These difficulties are exacerbated by the voltage fluctuations of the battery and the interference voltages induced on the line. A reduction in the resistance levels to be distinguished is achieved in another known arrangement in that a third query is carried out with an increased query voltage while the key is pressed.

   In the station are switching means such as relays, glow tubes or similar. provided, which allow a third signal circuit to become effective when the increased query voltage is applied. With an e1. In addition to the additional resistance level R, 2 x 3 x 3 = 18 possible characters can be formed if, in the third query step, the switching means switches a circuit via 0, R or 00 depending on the key pressed. Since the switching means must certainly not respond to the query with a low query voltage, but must respond to the third query under the most unfavorable conditions, very strict switching requirements are placed on this additional switching means. These requirements can only be met up to certain line resistances, discharges, etc.

   The known arrangements do not provide a safe push-button circuit arrangement for all line conditions that occur and under the most unfavorable operating conditions. In one case, very strict requirements are placed on the evaluation device and in the other case, switching means with precise fault current and pick-up values are required. And nevertheless, with the different line ratios, there is a greater restriction for the line resistance and the discharge.

   It is the object of the invention to provide a simple circuit arrangement for direct current push-button selection in which, apart from loop closure (0 ss) and loop interruption (00 Q), only one additional resistance stage (R) has to be distinguished when signaling. Additional switching devices that are used in the station must not be influenced by the permissible line resistance or the permissible discharge, as is the case with known arrangements.

   A DC push-button selection circuit arrangement, which avoids the difficulties shown, is characterized in that a code character leading in both current directions loop is provided with only one additional resistance stage, and a common contact set dependent on the actuation of a selection button is arranged in the loop The setting is different depending on the selection key and remains after the key is pressed,

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   so that the code characters can be evaluated while the key is pressed in the two current directions and after the key is pressed in the current direction of the second query step.

  A further development of the invention consists in that the closed loop in the current direction of the first query step is the criterion for the beginning and end of the key press. It is also provided that the first interrogation circuit leads via a first rectifier and a switch to interrupt the loop, and actuation of this switch or the activation of the additional resistance stage serves to initiate a code character.

  A further embodiment of the invention consists in that the second and third interrogation circuits lead via a second rectifier or the like and via a switch, via which three resistance stages can be connected.

  The common memory arrangement is a switching contact with two or. several different switch positions.

  It is also provided that the additional resistance stage in the first interrogation circuit is formed by the station DC resistance.

  The circuit arrangement according to the invention will be explained in more detail using several exemplary embodiments. The examples and the code symbols used are shown in Figs. 1-5. 1 shows an exemplary embodiment for twelve characters, FIG. 2 shows the code for the example according to FIG. 1, FIG. 3 shows an exemplary embodiment for eighteen characters, FIG. 4 shows the code for the example according to FIG. 3 and FIG Embodiment with normal keys.

  In Fig. 1 only that part of the telephone station is shown, which is necessary to explain the signaling. The initiation of a connection is established in a known manner by lifting the handset, with a loop closure being established via a contact of the hook switch. (Loop closure via the low-resistance station circuit is referred to below as resistor o.) This criterion is used to connect a dial-up device. If the dialing device is ready to receive, the subscriber receives the dial tone. He then begins to key in the number of the desired participant. Each time the button T1 ... T12 is pressed, the resistance of the station is changed for the applied query voltage Uab. When the keys Tl ...

   T6 the additional resistor R is switched on and when one of the buttons T7 ... T12 is pressed. the loop interrupted (resistance oo). This change in resistance is the sign for the beginning of a code sign. The resistance value is then evaluated in a manner known per se and then the polarity of the current direction Uab is reversed, so that the circuit comes into effect via the rectifier G2. Depending on the button pressed, the resistance value o, R or co is effective in this circuit.

  When the keys T1, T3, T5 ... T11 are pressed, the common key contact Tg is activated. The key contact remains closed even after the key is pressed. If a key from Tl, T3 ... TU is then pressed again, nothing changes in the switching position of the common contact Tg. If, however, another key from T2, T4 ... T12 is pressed, contact Tg is opened and remains open even after the key is pressed. If only the resistance values are used for the query after the
 EMI2.1
 is recognized by the evaluation device in the simplest way that the interrogation voltage Uab is reversed immediately after the second interrogation step and it is then checked when the resistance value o occurs.

   This is followed by renewed polarity reversal of the interrogation voltage and the evaluation of the third interrogation circuit via the rectifier G2 and the common key contact Tg. The code character of the key T12 cannot be evaluated for signaling without an additional time control, since it corresponds to the triggering state.

   In Fig. 3 an embodiment for eighteen different code characters is shown. This number of different code characters is achieved by including the three resistance values o, R and co in the third query circuit. The common contact Tg therefore has three switching positions, which are each assumed when six keys are pressed, as can be seen from FIG. 4 shows the code on which this station circuit is based. In principle, the voting process proceeds exactly as in the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. The only difference is that when the code characters for the dialing digits and additional criteria are selected from characters 1 to 9 and 11, 12, 13, 15, the hanging up of the handset can be recognized while the key is pressed.

  With the characters 1-9, the line is monitored after the second query step in the current direction of the first query step. If the participant hangs up while the button is pressed, the resistance level co appears instead of the expected level o. This is the sign that the participant has hung up. In the case of a partial result that indicates a character 11, 12, 13 or 15, the current direction for monitoring the keystroke is retained after the second query step.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

   In FIG. 5, an exemplary embodiment is shown which does not use the characters 1, 5, 10, 14, 17 and 18 of FIG. This has the advantage that when the second query step is reached, the current direction is always maintained if the second query delivers the value o or R. If the query returns the value 00 in the second step, then the system switches back to the current direction of the first query step for monitoring. In the first case there is a decrease in current when the key is pressed and in the second case there is always an increase in current. These criteria can be evaluated in a simple manner and used to initiate the third query.

   To ensure that the second query does not give a wrong result, the common contact Tg is first brought into the corresponding switch position. The contacts (normally closed contacts) in the first query circuit open last, so that the evaluation is then initiated. In this way, it is possible to use simple buttons to ensure that the code characters are correctly set before an evaluation takes place.

   Other exemplary embodiments can also be implemented with the circuit arrangement of the invention. What they all have in common, however, is the use of a third interrogation circuit, which comes into effect when the key is pressed by a common memory arrangement controlled by several keys.
