 EMI1.1

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Dementsprechend

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

     Zunächst werden die beiden Sternschaltungen mit den Schaltelementen Wl, Gll, G12 sowie W2, G21

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

  Queries for memories, in particular for telephone switching systems
 EMI1.1

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 results, several outputs are marked in only one of the groups, several of these
Queries are made simultaneously.

   When using the query mode specified above, several queries can be carried out on the memory at the same time. without undesired or incorrect query results. The conditions to be complied with are not difficult in many applications. To show this, the aforementioned query of a memory for the route search should be used. First of all, some information about a switching network in question is given.

   Such switching matrices are z. B. described in detail in Austrian Patent No. 206950. Such a switching network is subdivided, among other things, into switching stages, which in turn have groups of switching points which are combined into switching matrices. Intermediate lines emanate from these switching matrices and lead to an adjacent switching stage. In the course of a route search, information about such intermediate lines is often required, so z. B. about that of one
Switching matrix outgoing intermediate lines. Now these intermediate lines have specific addresses that indicate their peculiarity. It is expedient to use addresses which consist of several character elements that are selected according to the structure of the switching matrix.

   For example, the address of an intermediate line then consists of the specification of the switching stage from which it originates, the specification of the relevant switching multiple in the switching stage and the specification of the
Connection position of the intermediate line in this switching matrix. The address has here. thus three character elements, each corresponding to a different type of specification.

   In the case of the intermediate lines going out from a switching matrix, however, the associated addresses differ only with regard to one of these character elements. Two character elements are common to all addresses, namely the character element, which specifies the switching stage, and the character element, which specifies the switching matrix in this switching stage. If one group of inputs in a memory is assigned to the switching stages, the second group of inputs to the switching matrices and the third group of inputs to the connection layers of the intermediate lines, the signals corresponding to the above-mentioned addresses can easily be sent to the inputs of the memory at the same time whose marking are fed. In that case, several inputs are then only marked simultaneously in the group of inputs assigned to the connection layers.

   With regard to the marking of the outputs, the specified conditions are mostly observed here. In order to be able to explain this with the aid of the example already used, it is assumed that the memory supplies information as query results about where the relevant intermediate lines lead. The intermediate lines going out from one switching matrix in the direction of an adjacent switching stage now all lead to switching matrices in this switching stage.

   In addition, they usually all have the same connection location there. The addresses of the locations to which they lead have three character elements here too, two of which are always the same, namely those that indicate the connection position and those that indicate the switching stage. When the query results occur, if the groups of outputs have the same assignment to points in the coupling matrix as the groups of inputs, several outputs are marked simultaneously in only one group of outputs.

   This is the group of outputs that is assigned to the switching matrix. In practice, this means that it is possible to query the memories at the same time in many cases. If the outputs of the memory are not divided into groups, but are assigned individually to the query results, only the condition relating to the inputs of the memory must be observed. Similarly, if the inputs of the memory are not divided into groups, only the condition relating to the outputs of the memory must be observed.

   The query mode according to the invention for quickly retrieving stored information can be used when storing various types of construction, e.g. B. in a memory that is constructed with the aid of logic circuits, that is, coincidence circuits, OR circuits, etc. Such a memory is z. B. constructed in such a way that each of the inputs to be marked for a query is connected to a coincidence circuit acting as a star circuit made of resistors, from the star point of which decoupling rectifiers, which are used to forward the marking, lead in a star shape to the outputs to be marked for the query result are.

   Conveniently, the resistances of a star connection are each dependent on the direction of current except for one, u. zw. In such a way that they are not stressed in the forward direction when a marking is made.

   The circuit diagram of such a position memory is shown in extracts in the figure. Addresses can be supplied which each correspond to signals with 3 signal elements. Accordingly

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 3 groups of entrances are provided, each of which has to be marked. This is the group of inputs Eu0 ... Eu9, the group of inputs Ed0 ... Ed9 and the group of inputs Eh0 ... Eh9. If each group has 10 inputs, the address can also be interpreted as a three-digit decade number. The memory here has the property of delivering signals with three signal elements. They can also be understood here as three-digit numbers. The memory accordingly has 3 groups of outputs, where the outputs are marked with Mu0 ...

   Mu9, Md0 ... Md9 and Mh0 ... Mh9 are designated.

   The mentioned coincidence circuits and decoupling rectifiers are located between all these groups of inputs and outputs, but only a few of these are shown in the figure. This includes B. the coincidence circuit consisting of the resistor W2 and the rectifiers G21 and G22, to whose star point M2 the decoupling rectifiers G23, G24 and G25 are connected. The ends of the coincidence circuit facing away from the star point are connected to the inputs Eu2, EdO and Eh0.

  The decoupling rectifiers lead to the outputs MU0, Md0 and MhO.

   To mark the inputs, changeover contacts are used here, which are designated as a whole with p and via which a negative potential is applied to the relevant inputs in the rest position. To mark an input, the relevant changeover contact is brought into the working position, so that a positive potential is now applied to the input. The outputs of the memory are connected to earth via the resistors V. These resistances represent here the query results receiving institutions.

   If no input of the memory is at positive potential, i.e. no input is marked, then all resistors V are de-energized because the decoupling rectifiers in the memory are stressed in reverse direction under the influence of the applied voltages. Therefore none of the outputs of the memory is marked in this operating case either. If, on the other hand, three inputs are marked at the same time by the three signal elements of a supplied signal, the changeover contacts at these inputs are in
Working position, whereby you apply positive potential to these inputs.

   Via the star circuit connected to these inputs and acting as a coincidence circuit, the positive voltage then reaches the star point of this star circuit and from there via three decoupling directional conductors to the outputs and energizes the three resistors v connected here. These three outputs are then marked and thus indicate the signal elements to be delivered when e.g.

   If, for example, the three inputs Eu2, Ed0 and Eh0 are marked and accordingly the contacts p connected there are in the working position, positive potential is passed via resistor W2 to star point M2 and from aort via decoupling rectifiers G23, G24 and G25 to outputs MuO, Md0 and Mh0. If instead the inputs Eul, Edl and Eh0 are marked, and accordingly the contacts p connected there are in the working position, then positive potential reaches the neutral point M4 via the resistor W4 and from there via the decoupling rectifiers G43, G44 and G45 to the outputs Mu0, Mdl and Mh0. The three resistors V connected there are then energized.

   In addition to the coincidence circuits already described in detail, star connections acting as coincidence circuits are also present in the path memory for evaluating other signals to be supplied.

  However, only a few star connections are shown in the figure. The star connections, which, when their associated inputs are marked, each have to forward this marking to the same outputs, are expediently provided with a common star point to which common decoupling rectifiers are connected, which serve to forward the marking. This saves decoupling rectifiers.

   The figure also shows examples of such common decoupling rectifiers. The decoupling rectifiers G22, G24 and G25 are common to the three star connections with the switching elements Wl, Gll and G12, W2, G21 and G22 and finally W3, G31 and G32. Common decoupling rectifiers will be used in many cases in such a memory especially when it is z. B. is intended for the route search and contains information about switching matrices to which intermediate lines lead, since several intermediate lines generally lead to each switching matrix. It is not always necessary for the resulting signals to be supplied from the memory with several signal elements. The decoupling rectifiers otherwise provided for the storage unit can then be omitted.

   Then the star points M2, M4 etc. can also be used directly as outputs of the memory. This will be the case in particular if the memory has relatively few outputs.

   Using the memory shown in the figure, examples will now be shown that only correct query results are actually obtained through simultaneous suitable queries.

     First, the two star connections with the switching elements Wl, Gll, G12 and W2, G21

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 and G22 considered. Both star connections each have 3 inputs, of which they have two in common, namely the inputs EdO and EhO. In contrast, the inputs Eul and Eu2 are individual for the star connections. The inputs of these two star connections therefore only differ in one group of inputs. Both star connections have the same star point M2. With regard to the outputs that may have to be marked, no error results can occur here because they are identical for both star connections.

   The inputs of these two star connections can now be clearly marked at the same time, because there is no other combination of three inputs that are marked at the same time. If, instead of the inputs of the star connections from the switching elements Wl, Gll and G12, the inputs Eh0, Edl and Eu9 of the star connection W3, G31 and G32 are marked simultaneously with the inputs of the star connection W2, G21 and G22, an undesirable combination occurs. The two ideal latter star circuits have only one input in common, namely the input Eh0.

  If your inputs are marked, there would also be a marking on the combination of the inputs EhO, Edl and Eu2. The star connection of the switching elements W4, G41 and G42 with the star point M4 is connected to these latter inputs, from which decoupling rectifiers lead to the outputs MhO, Mdl and Mu0. An impermissible marking would occur at the output Mdl.

   The inputs of the star connections from the switching elements W2, G21 and G22 as well as W4, G41 and G42, on the other hand, could be marked at the same time, since these star connections have two inputs in common. They have different star points, namely the star points M2 and M4. The decoupling rectifiers G23, G24 and G25 as well as G43, G44 and G45 connected there now lead to two common outputs Mh0 'and Mu0 and to the two individual outputs MdO and Mdl assigned to the star points. If all of these outputs are marked, there is no additional combination of one output of the three intended groups of outputs. Therefore the simultaneous marking of the mentioned two three entrances is harmless. There is no invalid query result here.

   The query result is now considered which is obtained when the inputs of the star connections are marked with the switching elements Wl, Gll and G12 as well as W5, G51 and G52. You have the inputs
 EMI4.1
 There is therefore no impermissible effect when the inputs are selected. The star point M2 of the one star connection is connected to the outputs MuO, Md0 and MhO via decoupling rectifiers. The star point
M5 of the other star connection is connected to the outputs Mu9, Md9 and Mh0 via the decoupling rectifiers G53, G54 and G55.

   Only two of these decoupling rectifiers therefore lead to a common output. Therefore, marking these outputs also means that the combination of outputs Mu9, Md0 and Mh0 is marked. This combination of outputs is achieved neither solely via the decoupling rectifiers connected to the star point M2 nor solely via the decoupling rectifiers connected to the star point M5. Marking this combination of outputs is therefore not permitted. Therefore, it is not permitted to mark the inputs under consideration at the same time. This is not surprising, since the conditions to be observed have not been observed here.

   It should also be mentioned that a simultaneous marking of the inputs of the star connection with the switching elements Wl, G11 and G12 as well as W7, G71 and G72 is impermissible because impermissible combinations of marked inputs occur on the input side and is impermissible because on the output side as well impermissible combinations of marked outputs occur.

   In the memory considered above, only those star connections are provided that are required to explain the various operating cases. In practice it will have significantly more star connections.

   The query mode according to the invention can also be used with other types of memory, e.g. B. in a memory that consists of several memory cells, which can be queried with the help of the marking of inputs and determine by their memory content in each case the outputs at which markings belonging to query results occur.
