Process for the production of a veterinary preparation for the control of lungworm infections in sheep and cattle
In the Austrian patent specification No. 236691 a method for controlling lungworm infections in sheep and cattle has been described. According to this invention, the infections are combated with a preparation containing phenazine.

The invention relates to a process for the production of veterinary preparations containing phenazine, which are suitable for combating lungworm infections, in the form of dispersions or injection liquids.

Because the phenazine is poorly soluble in water, which can cause difficulties in the preparation of injection liquids, the preparation of a thixotropic injection liquid is preferred.

Such a liquid can be prepared by adding 0.1-15 parts by weight of phenazine 85-99.9 parts by weight of a thixotropic solution of 1 to 5 parts by weight of an aluminum salt of an aliphatic carboxylic acid with 14-20 carbon atoms and 95 -99 parts by weight of an ester of an aliphatic alcohol with 1-6 carbon atoms and an aliphatic carboxylic acid with 14-20 carbon atoms are added, after which this mixture is homogenized and sterilized.

Example: 15 g of powdery phenazine were made up to 100 ml with a thixotropic solution of 3 g of aluminum monostearate in 97 g of isopropyl myristate. After sterilization, the thixotropic liquid is ready to be used for injections.

   PATENT CLAIMS:
1. A process for the production of a veterinary preparation suitable for combating lungworm larvae of the infectious stage, in the form of dispersions or injection liquids, characterized in that finely ground phenazine in an amount of 0.1 to 15 parts by weight with 85 to 99 9 wt. Parts of a thixotropic solution of 1 to 5 parts by weight of an aluminum salt of an aliphatic carboxylic acid having 14-20 carbon atoms and 95-99 parts by weight of an ester of an aliphatic alcohol having 1-6 carbon atoms and an aliphatic carboxylic acid having 14-20 carbon atoms mixed and the preparation produced, optionally after homogenization, is sterilized.
